Floral Park?
Does anyone live in Floral Park village or Bellerose village? We have fallen in love with the area, and we like how close it is to NYC. It seems to have a real community feel and a cute downtown. Our one concern is the high school is 7-12. Not sure I want my 12 yr old going to school with 18 yr olds. But my oldest is only 3 so we have some time, we would maybe do public K-6, catholic 7-12. Can anyone give me pros and cons on the area? Our house out here in Suffolk needs to sell first, but we are hoping to move sometime in 2015. TIA!

Floral Park?
I love the area. The downtown is always beautifully maintained. Tons to eat, lots of places to shop. Trip in Penn Station is 30 mins, and trains run frequently enough. I always feel safe. I do not have a child in the HS yet, but many of the schools in Nassau are 7-12. Waiting to hear others thoughts on that.

Re: Floral Park?
We moved to Floral Park almost 3 years ago. My kids are 5 and 18 months so I haven't even thought about HS!! I was more bummed over K being half a day. We had to send him to another school so he won't start in FP until 1st grade. Love the town pool which they are redoing. My son played baseball last year and everyone was really friendly, loved FP summer camp as well. I am lucky to have very friendly and helpful neighbors (for the most part lol).

Re: Floral Park?
I didn't live in FP but another hs within the same district, so we were 7-12. I never found it to be a big deal or scary or anything. There are separate cafeterias during lunch time and the rest of the time, you're really only in classes with kids your own age. I wouldn't let a 7-12 HS deter you from an area that you love.

Re: Floral Park?
I grew up here. I never had any troubles with the highscool being 7-12. It was never even an issue. The town definitely has a community feel to it. Many of the people I grew up with have remained there.

Floral Park?
My dad has lived in Floral Park his whole life, it's a really nice town! My brother just graduated from Floral Park Memorial in June, he had no problems at the high school.
I grew up in Elmont and graduated from Sewanhaka - which is also 7-12 - in 2004. I never had any issues with being in the same school as seniors. I wouldn't let that change your mind, it really is a beautiful town.

Floral Park?
I grew up in Bellerose and went to Floral Park Memorial (so did my husband). We had no issues going to school and I actually liked the fact that I was with my friends from Pre-k-6 and again from 7-12. We love it here and just bought a house so our kids will also go to school where we did. There aren't a lot of places out there with the sense of community that Floral Park has. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

Re: Floral Park?
I grew up in Floral Park (the village/Nassau County) and went to FPM.
I have nothing but great things to say about the town and community.
My only gripe is that the houses have relatively small yards and you pay a lot of taxes.

Re: Floral Park?
I grew up in Floral Park and currently reside (Village) The School separates the kids 7 and 8th graders in a separate wing mostly and they eat lunch separately from the upper grades.
The community feel is amazing and i dont see many other communities like this any more.
The taxes are high but you are paying for the location, police department, garbage pickup, private recreational facilities. There is a reason our town is so beautiful and up kept!
Good luck in your search
