NYC Marathoners WE DID IT
So, it was windy as &^%$ and hard as hell to run this marathon. I was beyond frozen. I couldn't feel my toes until mile 3. The winds made it difficult and dangerous at times but I pushed through. This was the first time I actually thought about quitting at one point. Around mile 18 when I was faced with more strong winds. But I was running for a reason so much larger then myself (ran for Fred's Team) so I would never forgive myself if I did.
It was still an amazing day. I PR'd the course by 5minutes and 19 seconds. This still stands as my worst finishing times by far. It's just a difficult course. So many hills. But I was happy to finish slightly stronger then last year with those winds.
So, while not by best race time (by best beats this by 30+ minutes), I finished in 4 hours and 53 minutes.

Re: NYC Marathoners WE DID IT
Congrats on a great race and a PR! It was my first marathon so it was a PR automatically---I finished in 4:22. It wasn't my goal time but my training was sidelined a bit this season due to my hamstring injury so regardless, I'm really happy!
You know what KILLED me? That walk out of the park. Holy crap. My body really started to shut down and my teeth were chattering--we didn't get that blue poncho until we were outside the park and by then, I was already the same color. I didn't stop shivering until I was in a hot shower, it was bad!

Congrats ladies!
As another Fred's Team runner, I have to say, it was an incredible experience. My goal was to finish in under 5, and I came in at 4:56:13. And since it was so unbelievably cold and windy, especially waiting on Staten Island, I feel pretty dam accomplished!
Everything they say about the NYC marathon is true - the crowds are unbelievable. I felt like a rock star the entire time - so many people cheering, waving and calling my name. It was so freaking amazing.
Back when I ran my first half in '09, running a full wasn't even a thought in my mind. So to think I'm now one of the 1% of the population who has run a marathon is still unbelievable.
But more importantly, I was able to visit MSKCC today, and meet some of the pediatric cancer patients. So, while running the marathon was incredible, I'd have to say that getting to meet those beautiful little children solidified this as one of the best, most amazing experiences ever.

That doesn't surprise me about the medic tent! I was in bad shape and couldn't get myself to stop chattering and apparently my face was blue. They didn't give out the warm ponchos until you walked 5 blocks north to leave the park and then 2 blocks south once outside the park. I'm sure there was a reason for that but it was a very long walk!
