How far into your pregnancy did you work?

I am 19 weeks 1 day, I have my level II on Thursday so I will ask my doctor more about this then. But When I was last there 2 weeks ago, he told me he pulls all twin moms out of work between 26-28 weeks. So far I am having a picture perfect pregnancy. I am very healthy as are my girls. So I am just wondering if this is standard? I would like to work as close to my due date as possible if the pregnancy continues to go well. I will be out of work for awhile after they are born so I would hate to miss a lot of work beforehand too unless God forbid, there is an issue.

I went part time at just about 31 weeks and then stopped all together at 34 weeks all based on how I was feeling. My doctors went along with whatever I wanted to do. My girls were born at 35 weeks 4 days. I went into the hospital at 35 weeks 2 days.

ETA: I switched doctors at about 13 weeks (for many reasons) but one of them was because they pulled you from working at a certain point when having twins. I truly believe every pregnancy is different and every woman is different. Do what you feel is right. It is healthier for you and the babies to be active and moving around. If you feel well enough to work then you should work.

My OB did the same. I had a great pregnancy. Honestly I really didn't want to stop working so early. I felt ok and I worked 15 min from my house. He felt very strongly that he had a high success rate with twin moms going full term by going out that early.

Well I'm glad I went out. I started getting really tired. Felt huge, etc. I went full-term and my kids were born at 37w3d. Home in 3 days, no nicu time. Maybe they would've been fine anyway but I'm glad I took the time and didn't have to wonder what if.

I worked until about 20 weeks but I had a physical job. I now stay home.
I had a great pregnancy also. My twins born 38 weeks & both over 7lbs.
I can say though you are 19 weeks now....as you really start growing, you will feel it more. Wait until the babies really start growing & see how you feel. Good Luck to you!!

How far into your pregnancy did you work?

Thanks ladies! I am so used to the two singleton pregnancies I had, where I worked until the day I gave birth with both boys, I forget that twins is a whole different ball game! I will take it week by week and see how I feel- and of course, keeping the girls inside to as close to 40 weeks as possible is my ultimate goal. I would gladly stop working today if I knew it would guarantee full term babies.

I commuted into the city until 34 weeks and worked from home until my c/s at 36 weeks. I purposely chose my dr bc she didn't have a "rule" about when I should stop work. It actually bothers me when drs do that. Every pregnancy is different. Chat Icon

Re: How far into your pregnancy did you work?

I was supposed to work the day I delivered. I worked full time up until then. 36 weeks. However, I do have an office job, I don't think I could have done a very physical job that long.

My plan was to work until the end but my OB wanted me to take it easy starting at 20 weeks. Everything was going great so of course I did not listen then I started having complications at 21.5 weeks. So from then on I was on and off bed rest until 24.5 weeks. I had an emergency cerclage and then started working from home 3 days a week and went to the office 2 days a week with the stipulation that I did not move from my seat and came home and went right into bed. Did this until the day I delivered at 32 weeks.

I was taken out of work at 26 weeks. I am a high school teacher so standing all day caused a great deal of swelling and the heat was difficult to deal with. I probably could have lasted 2-3 more weeks but I will be 33 weeks tomorrow and I am so glad I am home. Really want to keep these boys in until 38 weeks.

How far into your pregnancy did you work?

I work in an office, but my OB pulled me out at 24 weeks and I worked from home until 34+4 when I delivered. This was the plan the whole time, but I did start dilating early, so needed to be on bed reat

How far into your pregnancy did you work?

My dr. told me from the beginning he would have me stop working at 24 weeks. I was a retail manager on always on my feet so that may have played a role in his decision. I ended up being put on bed rest 2 days before my scehduled last day anyway.

Re: How far into your pregnancy did you work?

i worked until 32 weeks. my varicose veins were pretty bad at that point. i probably could have gone a little longer, but i was also juggling two toddlers (2 and 4) an hour commute, and teaching special needs kids.... i was done. i also had the sick days to use - if not, I might have done another week or two.

How far into your pregnancy did you work?

I worked right up until the end, but I also work from home so I didn't have to worry about commuting. If I had to go into the office then it may have been different.

Re: How far into your pregnancy did you work?

How are all my twin mamas?
I'm 29 weeks and in all honesty, I'm not sure how much longer I can continue to work. I'm struggling each day.
I can't fit in any of my shoes but my UGGs and my hands are numb all day long. So bad that I can hardly pick up a pen and write. Chat Icon
The commute is really rough and involves a lot of walking.

I'm 32 weeks today and I'm planning on working a few more days and then I'm done! I have 4 weeks vacation so I will take 2 starting on April 13th, then start my leave and then take the remaining 2 weeks when my leave is up. Im waiting on a date but should be having a scheduled c section the first week in May (37weeks)
