when a special ed program is offered?
When a special ed preschool program is offered do they tell you which one you can go to, give you a list, or etc?
I believe DS will be offered a program as it seems he has signigicant deficits, but I don't want him going far from home/work

We got to chose the school we wanted to attend. He was in DDI through EI. When we transitioned to the school district, we were given a list and could choose. I chose to stay at DDI.

For me, DDI is super close to home and that is one of the reasons I chose to stay there. Went on a tour of a few school and they were too far for him to take the bus.

My son attends Barbara C. Wilson - they have a great program. You should tour a few schools as everyone gets a different feeling about a school. The sooner you take tours and make a decision the better, as they will have to make sure they have a spot available at the school of your choice. They may have a spot right away or you could be placed on a wait list.
Some other schools are Variety, Little Village and all the schools under the Brookville Center umbrella http://www.brookvillecenter.org/page.aspx?pid=892
Good luck!
