Has anyone had experience with this? Did they find a cause or do anything special? Did your LO have a pretty normal birth weight?

I had my 34 week appointment today and she said I was measuring 32 weeks. Definitely took me by surprise since at 32 weeks and before they kept saying I was measuring perfectly. They're going to do my growth sono at 35 instead of 36 weeks just to make sure everything looks good but of course now my anxiety is up.

Measuring behind near the end

In my experience, growth sonos tend to be inaccurate. In my case, DD measured bigger than she actually was.

Measuring behind near the end

I think towards the end, they cannot get a good reading. Ds kept measuring as though he's be a little over 8 pounds. At 38 weeks, they suddenly said he was measuring very small and would only be a little over 6. Needless to say, they just couldn't get good measurements at that point and he was 8.4 when he was born.

What was the baby's estimated weight. Mine at 32 weeks is a little over 4lbs. They never tell me if I am ahead or behind only the weight and percentile for weight. I am being monitored for growth restriction. He is now in the 50%.

I think you are fine maybe baby just won't be huge. Thats not a bad thing. I was hoping for a 6-7lber.

I was measuring a little small at that point too, I think in about the 10th percentile. The doctor told me to try to take it easy a bit to try to get more of my nutrients/blood supply to the baby. She wasn't alarmed, just told me it was time to start acting like I was pregnant!

Dd was born on her due date at 6lbs, 12 oz. At 2 years, she has held steady in about the 5-10 percentile!

Wouldn't worry. I was scheduled a c-sect as the baby was estimated to be almost 10 lbs and she was just under 8lbs. They are not correct

Thanks everyone. This was just based on her measurement of my belly. I haven't had a sono in a while but they're doing the growth sono early just to see what's up. I know they can't predict the birth weight well with that, in fact with DD I had so many sonos bc she was so late and they would never even comment on possible size. I was shocked she wasn't even 8lbs two weeks late. Maybe this one will be earlier and a little smaller. They also haven't been able to be sure of baby's position at the last two appointments which I think is odd at this point.

Re: Measuring behind near the end

I always measured small. Towards the end they were concerned because I had slightly high BP since my second tri and was on BP meds. So they thought maybe she wasn't getting enough blood flow etc.
it meant me going for weekly NSTs and sonos with dopplers. All was always normal on those.
I ended up having her 1 day before my due date. She was 7 lbs...very average weight. And very healthy.
All that concern and testing...and she wasnt even born small.
I just carried small and I feel like the sonos were inaccurate.

Eta...I just saw what you wrote about your belly measurements. That was totally me. Everytime the doctor would measure it he'd comment how small it was.
I just carried tiny. The day I went to L&D in labor the nurses thought I was thete for preterm contractions. ..I looked about 6 months pregnant but I was 40 weeks

Thanks. I'm really hoping to avoid a ton of NSTs. I don't have time for that! What's weird is everyone always comments on how huge I am so this really came out of nowhere. I'm short and have a short torso so everything just goes straight out front. I'm hoping it was just an off measurement but of course once you hear one little thing not being right it plants a seed to start wondering everything that could be wrong. It's going to be a long week waiting for this sono!

If the doctor was concerned they would let you kbow asap. I measured behind with my 3rd because I had intra-uterine growth retardation (and a host of other problems) But they knew exactly why the baby was measuring small and they were all over me. My daughter was a preemie but I knew by 24-26 weeks that this was going to happen. Keep eating healthy and you will be fine!
