How to put on Mascara...

I seriously need help in this department. I have absolutely no idea how to put on mascara. I either get it all over my top lid, or it doesn't give me that "lift" I'm looking for. Yes I use an eyelash curler...

I see people on the train putting on mascara and changing the whole look of their eye. I mean I don't have the best lashes, but I def. don't have the worst! I see ladies putting it on like from the top of the top lashes... how the hell are they not getting it all over themselves??

I def. need to take a class on mascara application!

They say to put mascara on top of the lashes as well as the usual undercoating - when the mascara dries it lifts the lashes into a natural curl. I have yet to try this.

I start as close to the lash base as possible and move the brush side to side while going up the lashes. I find that waterproof mascara holds the curl best...and I only use one coat - unless I'm going out then I'll do a quick second coat.

A light hand helps - anytime I'm rushing I'll get mascara on my lids...but a damp q-tip gets it off and I'll touch up any eyeshadow I might be wearing.

I've always read that you should't spend a fortune on mascara - that the "cheaper" company's come out with more innovative ideas than the pricier brands. I've tried both and always return to Maybelline.

I need to take a class on putting ALL makeup! Have you tried using a lash curler? I find that I can see the lashes better.

some makeup artists do a side-to-side motion (oprah's makeup artist does this)...everyone has a diff technique.

I usually use an eyelash curler. I clamp my lashes for a few secs., and I apply my mascara to the top lashes only. I use maybelline mascara with the curved wand. I have been using that brand for a long time and am happy with it.
