Can this be omitted?
I would omit the sweet potato or yams/ apple because they are similar, keep the mac and cheese

KEEP IT!!!!!!!!!!!! If anything, get rid of the salad. Nobody wants a salad on Thanksgiving unless you are annorexic! Lol I love baked MAC & CHEESE! I look forward to it at every holiday! Plus, its Thanksgiving! You want leftovers galore! =)

yes, you can. I grew up strictly kosher so adding cheese to a meat meal was a no no lol, so I never think of adding that type of dish to a meal but I think you can leave it out
sound yummy. Leave out the salad like the poster above says

I honenetly never heard of serving mac and cheese on Thanksgiving so I say you can omit it. I don't see how it goes with Turkey, stuffing etc.

Re: Can this be omitted?
It depends on how many people you will be having and how many are children?
I find kids love Mac & Cheese and if you are having a large group or a vegetarian, Mac & Cheese can be a good filler.
As you can see, I voted Keep it lol and I will be making it myself

I have never had mac and cheese at any holiday dinner. I would ax it with no issues.

Re: Can this be omitted?
Yeah, you can definitely omit it. Most of the other food is so heavy on Thanksgiving and IMO it's not really a Thanksgiving food.

I also never had Mac and cheese on thanksgiving so I say ditch it. Substitute it with mashed or roasted potatoes. I would keep the salad though.

Re: Can this be omitted?
We have mac and cheese as one of our sides- mainly for all the kids and picky eaters.

Re: Can this be omitted?
I think it depends. Will your guests prefer it over one of the other dishes? If so, swap it out.
We always have mac 'n cheese on Thanksgiving because we like it, and DH doesn't like any vegetables.
