What does nippy mean. If he bit someone and did damage a vet may react that way. But that cuty doesn't look ferocious.

Was it a long period of time between the family first contacting the shelter and the papers being signed? Not that it justifies the actions, just thinking maybe questioning them and trying to persuade them to give it a chance was the mistake, instead of getting in there quickly to remove the dog.

Is there a list that these people will go on so no shelter ever gives them another dog? I hope so.

Nippy meaning when he's playing he can try and and bite but in a playful puppy way not in an aggressive way. Everyone knows that puppies chew. Just like teething babies.

It was a matter of two days between the time the surrender papers were returned and when a foster family was able to be arranged for him. Two whole days. They had already had him for a few weeks so why were those two days a breaking point for them. And they knew we would take him back it was just a matter of having a foster home for him to go right into.

They most certainly are on a DNA (Do Not Adopt) list however it only applies to other rescues. They can always buy one from a store or breeder.

What does this vet have to say? I want to know, I imagine others do too. And what are the animals who brought him to death saying? When are they going to be served by a lawsuit? I really want to know.

The vet is not saying much at all. The "owners" are saying they had a trainer come in and evaluate him and it was the trainers suggestion that he be put down. However they are not giving out any info about this so called trainer. And what trainer would actually suggest that?? I have no idea about the lawsuit because that's not being openly discussed.

No trainer would say that. NO trainer. They are lying I am sure. He would have had to really MAIM someone badly for anyone to say that, which doesnt seem to have happened. I am so angry over this, words can't describe.

Wow! It was awful already, but I'm thinking maybe it was 2 weeks and they had had it, but 2 days!!!! I thought maybe he'd bitten someone. Not that they should put him down for that, but it may be the reason a vet agrees. But nippy is different.

I wonder if there's more they are not saying for the vet to agree to that? Maybe they had harmed the dog! But then you'd think the vet would report it.

So sad, poor puppy!

Heads up about a crappy vet....

That is horrible!! Just breaks my heart!! We adopted our puppy 5 months ago from Last Chance and he is just the best dog ever. He was nippy when we first got him but thats understanding since he was a 7 month old puppy. We worked with him and trained him and now he doesn't nip at all! That dog should have not been put down. Makes me so sad Chat Icon Chat Icon

We used this vet for years and loved them. I am just shocked. Can there be more to the story (I'm praying there is!).

I am physically ill reading this. That poor sweet baby...to have a second chance and then be killed for no reason. Surely there must be a special place in Hell for all involved.

Re: Heads up about a crappy vet....

Oh that's awful and the sad part is, I believe it. My vet, who is wonderful, told me stories about an owner who brought the dog in and the dog needed a minor treatment (was sick) and the person just didn't want to pay the $250 vet bill so told the vet to put him down!!!!! The vet said they will not do that and the owner was going to just take the dog back and GOD KNOWS WHAT would happen so the vet was smart, said you owe me the money so you can't just take the dog but I'll let the bill slide if you sign over the rights to the dog. Vet took ownership of the dog and adopted him out to a loving and fantastic family. The difference between a good vet and someone who isn't a good vet!!!

It is a very sad situation for the dog, and they did break a contract, from what I know an adopted animal is always owned by the adoption group, but it concerns me that the poster is outing a vet, not as an individual but while being a volunteer with a large rescue group.
I'm sure people will be pissed I made that statement, but that is what went through my mind after I read the story. I would think this group might have an issue with that and to be careful.

I say out this vet.

Out the shitt of this vet.
