A very random question

So assuming I got pregnant with this little embie, when is the best time to call a obgyn? I plan on switching practices (to Dr. Trongone) I've heard and read many wonderful things I just don't know when I should call? I feel right now is way too soon to call and schedule anything considering It hasn't even been one day since transfer! Lol I just want to make sure I get this practice for a potential delivery! thanks ladies, I know totally a weird question!

Re: A very random question

I called new Ob offices (insurance change) the day I got my bfp to schedule an appt for after I graduated from the RE.

A very random question

Call as soon as you know you're pregnant and schedule an appt for when you would be 8 weeks.

Re: A very random question

For me it was a little different. I was very cautious after my BFP I didn't call until the day I graduated. I plan to do the same this cycle as well(if I get a BFP). Call me superstitious or maybe because I'm in the field or maybe the years of being on this board I wait it out.

I think with my first the RE told actually told me when to call my ob and it was after my 6 week sono if I remember correctly? I plan on waiting a little longer too to call my ob. My first appt was sometime between the 8-10 week mark so I figure it'll be the same again this time!

A very random question

I called a new OB the day I graduated. Bad move, it worked out in the end because they were really nice about it, but I almost couldn't get into the OB I wanted and I didn't have my first appt until week 10, so all my regular apps are two weeks off. I also had to miss work because I had to take what I could get.

I also called the day I graduated and got my first appointment when I was 9 weeks. Personally, if something did happen (loss/miscarriage), I didn't want to have to call my OB to cancel the initial appointment. I am pretty flexible in terms of when I can go for an appointment, so I think that helped. If your work schedule isn't very flexible (i.e. you can only go to appointments after 6pm), I would probably call a little sooner to get something that works for you.

With my first pregnancy, I didn't call my OB until my RE told me that my next appointment would be my last there - at 8 weeks, I think?

With my second pregnancy, I called the day after I got my bfp. Then, when I lost the pregnancy and had to call and cancel it, it was such a hard phone call to make. Chat Icon

With pregnancies 3-6 (all miscarriages), I never called the OB. Seemed like bad karma and I couldn't bring myself to do it.

I waited until my RE released me. I stayed with my RE until 10 weeks. I was very nervous (had a mc prior). When I was released I called my OB (who is Trongone. Chat Icon love him).

Re: A very random question

I would call when my RE told me. I'm very cautious though because of previous MC's.

Re: A very random question

You call after it's confirmed that you're pregnant and let them know you're under the care of an RE. Every OB does thing slightly differently. With my previous one, I needed blood work faxed in showing I was pg before they'd schedule my appt, so in that case it's worth scheduling sooner. Also it's good to know when your appt is b/c most REs need at least 10 days to send your records to the OB.
