if you did the balloon gender reveal...

we're thinking of doing the balloon in the box gender reveal.
Did you use helium balloons so they would float up?
Did you put string on them and tape them to the bottom or just let them float up? (no I'm not doing it outside)

I'm planning on wrapping the box in christmas paper and having our parents open it. anyone do something similar?

I didn't do it but my friend did -- she had the person at Party City fill both latex and mylar balloons up and tied them to balloon weights which were put in the bottom of the reveal box. They specifically asked for extra long ribbons to be tied to the balloons so when they lifted the cover off, the balloons clearly came out of the box but didn't float away.

I didn't do it either but if I was going it inside I'd just let them float to the ceiling, unless you have a really high ceiling that you couldn't get them down.

I haven't done one but I'm planning to when we find out. I'd attach the balloons or use a weight so you can take pictures during or after. And still get the effect in the pics of it being a reveal. If they float to the ceiling too fast you'll miss the shot.

Ok so another question. Where do you think I can get decorations for the box? I know etsy sells the decals but I'm not spending $30 on decals for a box. I'm thinking something like this

Can you paint it yourself? Get some stencils and acrylic paint . Although the cost of all the materials will probably end up about $30 or more. Doubt you'll find decals much cheaper.
