Frustrated (and maybe overreacting a little)

I just got my 4th cycle of spotting from 8dpo to AF (comes 14dpo). We are actively TTC and while I know we haven't been at it for very long, I feel very strongly that the spotting is signaling a problem.

I just started seeing a new OBGYN in the spring and I'm pretty sure she's going to useless- when I called to make an appt to discuss my concerns I was told I wasn't due until May and I would need to speak with the doctor because they could't give me an appointment (she's been on and will continue to be on vacation). Last time I was there and said I'd be going off the pill shortly I was told to call her if I got pregnant and if not she'd see me next year.

Am I expecting too much? I'm on the fence about just finding a new doctor, but part of me feels like I'm overreacting.

What do you ladies think? Am I just crazy or is this strange?

If she's always out of the office(vacation) I would be concerned. If you're pregnant and had a big emergency then what. If you guys aren't on the same page then she may not be for you.

Do you really spot for a week before AF? That's a long time. How many months have you been off BC? How are you confirming your O date?

In general, spotting before AF can be quite normal (and common!), but if you're worried, I'd def talk to your dr. Blood tests are an easy way to confirm O and that your progesterone is high enough after O (low progesterone could be a cause for spotting).

If you're not happy with your new dr, why not change? You should really like your OB b/c once you get pg, you'll be there often! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I've been spotting 6 days before AF/8dpo. I went off the pill in August and my cycle lengths have varied, but spotting is always 6 days before AF. I also didn't get AF for the last 5 years on BC (didn't build any lining with the particular pill I was on). I've been using CB OPKs.

Spotting is definitely common but 8dpo is so earlyChat Icon I'll give this doctor one more shot. Thank you for your support Chat Icon

Your OB can run a blood test about a week after you O to check your progesterone level to make sure that you're getting a good O and that your progesterone would be high enough to sustain a pregnancy.

For what it's worth, I spot before AF and I'm pg with #2 now, so it can be normal. It's just the 6 days of spotting I'd question...

Either way, it's probably an easy fix. I'd get the blood test.
