another bathroom question

anyone with kids not have a tub?

shopaholic brought up some good points so i wanted to edit.

i dont have kids yet. we're trying now.
i do not plan on moving ever, but i know it's something to consider.

as of right now, i have a tenant and the complete house has 2 and 1/2 bath. i wouldn't be getting rid of the only tub, just the one in my space for now.

How old are your kids?
keep in mind that it will impact resale value for the house not to have a single tub in it.

have 1 kid and have a tub. He also likes to shower, but he's 3.5.
There is a definite period of time where he was too big to bathe in the sink and wouldn't be able to take a shower.

if you're going to kick the tenant out prior to having a kid, you're fine. if not, I'm not sure what you do to bathe the kids during that in between phase

DS is almost 2 years old and I have no idea how I'd bathe him if we didn't have a bathtub. Newborns and infants fit into a baby tub, but once they outgrow that (usually by a year old), you need a tub b/c they are still too young to take a shower.

Re: another bathroom question

When we were having our bathroom renovated upstairs we had to use the bathroom downstairs which only has a shower. It was incredibly hard and my girls are 2 & 4. If you plan to have children I would put a tub in.

I cannot imagine no tub for young children. I don't think they are really old enough to shower until like 5?

Seems like a hassle to have to kick out the tenant and go to a different space to use a tub.

Re: another bathroom question

The house we bought didn't have a tub. We would have to bathe a toddler and a baby in the kitchen sink, or else the toddler would sometimes shower with me. The first major change to the house we made was redoing the main bathroom and adding a tub. I do not know what we would have done as the baby got older without a tub.

another bathroom question

DD is almost 2 and has been showering with me since 20 months. She loves it.

It's also much easier on my back not having to bend and stretch over the tub anymore.

Our house had a shower only when we bought it. We changed it to a bathtub when we knew we were having kids.
