Hi new to this site/blog. My son has mild to moderate autism and was diagnosed at 15mos. Was receiving therapy thru EI, now he's 3.5yrs old and now goes to Children's Readiness Center. He's making a lot of progress, but I still have moments of sadness of the diagnosis. Does anyone else go thru this?

My dtr is 26 months old and was diagnosed at 19 months. She is making good progress with therapy but I'm still stressed out almost every single day because of this diagnosis. The only time I take my mind off of it is when I work. The hardest part is that there doesn't seem to be any support groups and the spectrum is so wide.

Yes totally a normal feeling. My DS was diagnosed at 19 months, he is almost 2.5 now and has had very slow progress and is still non-verbal. Sometimes I get sad when I see what other kids his age are doing. I know I can't compare though.

My son was diagnosed at 15 months as well (he's now 2 years 2 months) and there are definite days of sadness. Especially when we go out and children his age are speaking and/or playing beside one another.

My daughter just got an ASD diagnosis last Monday with a score of 11 on the ADOS (2 yrs,8months). I feel like they just dropped this on me and then left. I would love to meet with other moms who are going through the same thing-- or at least maybe even start a private facebook group so we can support each other.

I understand others don't get it. I've gotten comments like "he doesn't look like he has autism." Etc. Its hard especially my niece is 1 yr younger and can do so much more and you try not to compare.
