Re: Romantic restaurant suggestions?
I love Mannino's in Oakdale. I know it's not super romantic, but I find the atmosphere very cozy for some reason. But they don't take reservations and it can get very crazy on a weekend.
How far are you willing to travel? Sempre Vivolo in Hauppauge (exit 55 on LIE) is very very nice and fits your criteria.

Sempre Vivolo is a nice choice. Great food. Cafe Il Villagio in Babylon is nice too. Not as fancy as Sempre but nice. FYI, men need to wear sports coats to Sempre, or at least they used to.

Oh this is for Valentines Day? Yikes. Should be crazy everywhere. Try Cafe Il Vilagio as PP suggested. Or Verace in Islip.

Romantic restaurant suggestions?
A little far but worth it, Michael Angelo's food bar in wading river. I'm a big fan of Sempre Vivillo too but michael Anthony's menu is more modern, delish local foods and it's a really cute/romantic place. Dressy or a little less dressy is ok there. Awesome wine pairings too.

Re: Romantic restaurant suggestions?
Yeah, Mannino's in Oakdale was my suggestion. I see other poster's said it as well. They have such great food. The place doesn't have violins and roses shooting out of the electrical sockets, don't get me wrong, lol I wouldn't be like - that's a romantic place!! But it's cozy and cute, nicely decorated and the food is phenomenal.
My best advice would be go on a night OTHER THAN Valentine's Day.
Me and the mans are going on the following Monday instead
