Yeah. That's why I budget for mine every year. My older cats run me $300 at every well visit and my dog a little more. I do one animal a month. I also have care credit for just in case.

Re: Vet Bills
I only have one dog, but yea, it's expensive. I think we pay $75 for the visit itself, plus with the shots and heart worm and everything it comes to like $300.

Re: Vet Bills
What i do every year to keep the cost down a little is, i bring them to Petco for the vaccinations so with that i avoid consultation fees and the shots in petco are much cheaper than at the vets office.

I use the North Shore Animal League for appointments and we did not get our dog from there. Much cheaper than a vet

I use the hospital inside of PetSmart. I pay 30 a month for a year or 360 in full once and that covers all annual shots, 6 month, and yearly visits and emergency visits. I only pay extra for medication or if they run any test or x-rays.

I also use the Luv My Pet traveling clinic that goes to Petco locations. You can check their website for the dates/times they will be at local stores. I've never had a problem with them. My dog gets all his vaccinations from them and we purchase his flea and heartworm medication through them -- all are SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than going to the vet because they don't charge you an office visit fee. I only take him to the vet for a wellness visit 1-2x a year or when there is a medical issue that comes up (eye infection, etc.) When we take him to the vet for check-ups, I bring the documentation from Luv My Pet to show that he is up to date on vaccines and ask that they update their records to reflect that.
