I saw both. Dr. Scholl is very straight to the point. He won't give you the warm and fuzzes, but as a doctor and professional I really liked him. Same goes for Dr. Cohen. He's a little corky IMO, but a great doctor. I would highly recommend both.

I didn't like Cohen - but then again - I hated my whole experience at NS. You'll find opinions good and bad for every RE on here. Best advice - go with your guy and who you feel comfortable with. You are really interviewing them at your consult - bc with IF your dr experience really makes a difference. Good luck

Sorry but by "corky" did you mean "dorky" or "cocky" or "quirky" lol. Thinking of using him myself.

I can't stand dr. Scholl. He is very condescending and he is very very quick to push a donor egg. I needed lupron for a future procedure. There was a shortage at the time. He did not even try to get it for me. He was nasty about it and said his other patients are getting it first. After that, I left and found another re. That re got me the lupron right away from a compounding pharmacy in Alabama and I was able to start my cycle right away instead of having to wait as Scholl told me that I would. Even my acupuncturist said he is not nice at all. He warned me about Scholl, but I went to see Scholl anyway. It was a big waste of time. Two nurses in that facility even expressed their dislike for him. After my one other re stopped taking my insurance, I did go back. I told them specifically that I never wanted to deal with Scholl. They said they understood. I liked Dr. Cohen. In fact, I switched over to him from Scholl. I feel that he is thorough and very nice. He takes the time to explain things to you. North Shore is much more expensive than some other facilities. I think because it is a hospital. Even with insurance and I have good insurance, it was considerably more money. Dt. Cohen is very nice, but North Shore does not believe in immune issues possibilly causing a miscarriage. Ultimately, I left them because of that. Yet, I did like Cohen. You have to see what and who is the best fit for you. Best of luck.

Re: any info on these dr's?

Not a fan of Dr Scholl or the practice. I did IVF with them with no success. I did 2 fresh cycles(first was cancelled right before retrieval due to premature ovulation prior to retrieval) then went on to do I think 4 frozen transfers. None of then resulted in a BFP then he wanted to do another fresh cycle after using all my frozen with no luck but he refused to change my protocol. I have a history of DVTs ( clots) but he didn't think it was necessary for me to be on any blood thinners.

Well I left and switched to Dr Trivax at RS of NY and have had success he also changed my protocol. Currently have a 18 month old DD from a FET and 18 weeks pregnant with a DS from another FET (my own eggs).

Dr Scholl overall is stubborn and old school since he's a doctor with a zillion years of experience and you're not he knows what's best. Dr Cohen is dry to me.

I saw dr. Cohen. He was very nice and knowledgeable. but I felt that the overall practice was not for me. I didn't like that I wouldn't get timely responses and I felt it was just too big.. That's just my experience anyway.

I'm a patient at North Shore but I see Dr. Mullin - she also has an office in Garden City that is smaller and much more personal than the office in Manhasset.

I don't love the practice. I think they are very quick to jump to IVF and they also had a BIG problem with me being a patient of Dr. Kofinas, which I found to be very unprofessional.

All that being said..I did have 2 successful IVF transfers with them. Dr. Singer did my last transfer and I really liked him. He has a great bedside manner and makes you feel very comfortable.

Thank you, when you saw Dr. Singer was he in the City? I called and they said he is only in the Manhattan now.

I liked Dr. Cohen. Saw him a few times but he wasn't my main doctor. When you are cycling, you see them all anyway. Dr. Scholl, I only met once maybe twice. He wasn't bad imo just very matter of fact.

I saw him in Manhasset but it was only for my transfer. I've been a patient there for 2 years, so I've seen most of the other doctors: Dr. Cohen, Dr. Scholl, Dr. Chu, Dr. Rausch and Dr. Herschlag, but the only time I saw Dr. Singer was for my last transfer in January. It could be that he was just there for surgeries that day and doesn't see patients regularly there, I'm not sure though.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr. Cohen.
If you see my post about my 4 year in the making baby I talk about him but I can't say enough good things. When I first went to him about my fibroid he gave me the clinical answer but then told me honestly what he felt. He always made me feel comfortable about the decisions I made. Everytime I went to see him for consultations my wait was short and when I was brought into the room or office he was there waiting for me. He was informative and honest.

He is also supposed to be an amazing surgeon and my OB was amazed by how good a job he did on my fibroid. Plus he removed some scar tissue and it was nothing. Hopefully you wouldn't need surgery like I did but if you did its nice having a doctor so good at it.

When you go through IVF you see every doctor. A lot of people call North Shore a baby factory, but I never felt that way. I liked every doctor I saw there and the IVF nurses were wonderful. A lot of people also don't like it being in a hospital, but honestly if you have to have any kind of surgery, even a simple outpatient surgery or god forbid something like me, its nice to be connected to such a high end hospital.

I had no doubt about going to North Shore, even from being in South Suffolk. They came highly recommended by many of my parents doctor friends. Plus they are innovators in IVF, they were one of the first in the country.

Coming from an OB with HORRIBLE bedside manner who made bad decisions with me, having an RE who was informative, straight forward, yet warm… it was so important for me.

I have to say that I loved North Shore and all the doctors there.

After four failed IVF's and a FET that ended in a miscarriage with another doctor who I will not mention because he is a fan favorite on this board - I finally switched to North Shore and got my miracle!! I only had two eggs that made it and my little girl was one of those eggs!!!! My experience at North Shore was fantastic.
