"Staple" evening bag?
I'm still holding out for the classic Chanel half moom clutch ......but until it's mine  - any suggestions for a staple I can wear for formal events? something large enough to carry more than a lipstick, but versitile as well?

I was JUST thinking about this. I had my sister's wedding last Saturday and I only had my wristlet that I use for all of my formal events. It hold NOTHING! I was wondering what people use so that you can actually hold more than just the makeup staples.

exactly - I need something more appropriate and 'grown up' ......but I want something versitile. I don't want to have 10 evening bags ......I'm not a bag person to begin with.

My go to evening bag is Cole Haan Charcoal Grey leather and it is actually a make-up bag. It is not quite as big as the Channel Half Moon but it is a good size. Holds my phone and a few essentials.
I also have a black leather Kate Spade that is has a chain strap.

Check Rebecca Minkoff. I have her crossbody, that can also change to a 1 shoulder. I absolutely love it. I get compliments on it ALL the time. I wear it when I run to the store but I wear when Im dressed up. And still get compliments.
I would also check Kate Spade or Marc Jacobs

Believe it or not, Target has some cute black and silver clutches. Bigger than a wristlet so you can actually put some "stuff" in it but doesn't look big and bulky like a tote. Good Luck!

I have a Tory Burch clutch that holds a lot
It has a removable chain so you can hold it or wear it (its like a long envelope shape)

I love the Tory Burch Reva clutch. It comes with a strap u can put into the bag.
