Anyone have the Veggetti?

We picked one up on a whim in BBB a few weeks ago and are just going to try it tonight.
We want to make zucchini pasta and put clam sauce over it..

How do you cook it?
Do you cook it like regular pasta- as in boil it?

Or is there another way?

Re: Anyone have the Veggetti?

Cook like you would cook zucchini regularly. Just sautee in a pan with a little olive oil for a few minutes. The longer it cooks, the more wilted it becomes. We like it to have an "al dente" bite to it so we sautee for a little less (just a few minutes).

Another tip... when you first put the zucchini through the shredder, I put them in a colander and sprinkle some salt all over it, toss that in and let it sit for a while either in the sink or in a bigger bowl. This draws out a lot of the water from the zucchini. (Like spinach it will shrink in volume after this so you may want to throw in another zucchini to make up the difference or it will look like very little food lol). If you don't salt it, you will find it drowning in water in the pan when you go to cook it. This happened the first time we cooked it.

After shredding, you may also want to use kitchen shears to trim down the size so you don't get mile long strands. It'll be easier when serving. I'm not sure if the veggetti does that already for you, but the one we use doesn't.

There are a ton of videos showing different ways you use it (you can add sweet potatoes, carrots, make salad, etc.) Have fun with it!

Anyone have the Veggetti?

I have mine and love it!!! I usually put on a baking sheet with a bit of pepper and olive oil and bake on $350 for 10 min- I don't like it very soft and find that it gets quite mushy when I do it in the skillet. Both ways are tasty and healthy though!

It was very good!
We used it in place of linguini in linguini and white clam sauce.
I usually throw pieces of cut up zuchinni in my clam sauce anyway so this was perfect flavor wise.
It really did mimic pasta in terms of texture.

I followed the tip above about salting it for a while and was amazed how much water came out!
I also blotted it with paper towels.
Sauteed in a pan with olive oil for a few minutes.

I will try the baking idea next time!

I have never tried baking it but it sounds good! Yeah I don't like when it comes out mushy either, we serve it while it still has a bite to it, so I literally sautee it for just a couple of minutes. I will try baking it though!

Awesome, glad you liked it! I can't tell you how much water came out in my pan the first time I did it before I learned to salt it beforehand lol. It was gross!

I have never tried baking it before but it sounds like it would be very good. I will be doing that soon too! lol... Thanks for the tip MrsB!

I have the spiralizer and according to the website there are a number of other fruits and veg you can use. I've tried zucchini, beets, apples, carrots, parsnips, and sweet potatoes so far. You can use potatoes to make curly fries.
