Wtf
Has this happened to anyone else? How did you change your diet? Was your baby huge? End up in nicu? What's your story?

Re: GD diagnosis in the last days of pregnancy
This did not happen to me personally, but happened to my friend. She was diagnosed around 37 weeks - she changed her diet and they estimated around a 10lb baby. Baby was born healthy at 7lbs 10 oz. NO NICU stay, he was just fine. They monitored his sugars for the first 24 hours.

GD diagnosis in the last days of pregnancy
I was the opposite and was diagnosed very early- 13w.
I stuck (mostly) to a diet that balanced carbs with protein - always consume more protein than carbs. Limit carbs to about 15g for breakfast and lunch, around 30-40g for dinner, 10g for snacks but always make sure that the grams of protein exceeds the grams of carbs. Limit breads, rice, pastas and if you have them, avoid ones made with white flour- stick to whole wheat and whole grain. Always read labels.
DD was perfect at birth. Born at 39w weighing 7lb5oz. Passed all blood sugar tests in the hospital and no nicu stay required at all. They did have a nicu team in the delivery room to check her out just in case- standard protocol.

Re: GD diagnosis in the last days of pregnancy
I was diagnosed at about 32 weeks, so towards the end but not quite the last days of pregnancy. I followed a very strict diet as per the GD dietician I met with and tested my sugar 4 times daily (fasting when I woke up and 2 hours after each meal) Baby was not huge, perfectly average. Baby was also perfectly healthy- no NICU time or other complications. If you have any other questions feel free to FM me.
