Pet sitter vs boarding

I am a new dog owner and am going away for 7 days at the end of August. I do not have family to watch her. Would you go with boarding or a sitter for this long? As of now she is a high energy active 1 yo puppy. Maybe she will slow down with the summer heat!

For boarding I have a vet that does boarding with 4-5 outdoor walks a day (5min) and an indoor dog run.

For a sitter I hear of people who live in your home while you are gone or just come and walk the dog. Which is better?

Also how much do you pay for sitter or boarding and what is included?

We have done both. We have a puppy also and he was 7 months old and I didn't think a sitter could handle him. We boarded him at Fonab in commack . I was so scared when we dropped him off . He loved in so much there he didn't want to come home. They spend a lot of the day outside playing.

For boarding we love Houndstown in Farmingdale. Our puppy has been there a bunch of times for 1-2 night stays. The dogs play all day at doggie daycare.

Our pup runs in there so fast when we pull up, you don't even have a chance to say bye to her, she goes crazy shes so excited.

They also post pictures periodically on facebook so you can see your pup having fun and playing!

I live in Melville and have both - a dog walker and someone that boards in their home. We use the dog walker for when we're out for the day and need someone to come in once or twice. We use the boarder for longer/overnight periods of time. I would not want a stranger to stay at my house and feel like someone that comes in only a few times a day would not be enough (we have a 1 yo Husky). Our dog walker charges $20 per visit but the person that boards charges $25 per day. We have to bring everything - food, bowls, toys, bedding etc.

I don't like the idea of someone staying in my house.

We mostly use our dog walker - she also is a pet sitter, but the dog stays at her house.

Our dog has also boarded, but I prefer to board her at a doggie daycare rather than the vet so she can play with other dogs during the day!
