Thyroid levels
I went last Friday to have my physical. Results came and I was kind of shocked when they told me my thyroid test came back high… After reading some symptoms I wasn't shocked anymore and things were making sense.
I got a phone call from my doctor today saying that, although high, I'm borderline, so no treatment is necessary for now and I should go back in 3/4 months to test again. Lately I have been feeling dizzy, but anemia and sugar came out normally, so I'm guessing it could be because of the thyroid?
My main question: Should I go ahead and make an appointment with an endocrinologist?
I asked the doctor over an email but he said I'm still borderline, so not necessary (I think, if I understood well I'm 4.7), but it annoys me all of the little symptoms (fatigue, gaining weight, loosing hair that I attributed to getting older), but most of all, this dizzy feeling I've been having lately (the last 10 days or so)
Sorry because I know I'm all over, but wanted to know opinions if someone has been there.

Your doctor is using the old range for "normal" which used to be 0.5-5.0. The newer standards for normal are now 0.3-3.0. Is this your primary doctor? If so, you likely need a referral to an endocrinologist, who will be way more informed and would likely treat you at a 4.7.
Good luck.

Thyroid levels
Mine recently came back the same, and I've noticed changes (weight gain, tired in the afternoon, etc). I'm going to make changes to my diet first and then get another blood draw in 3 months before making any alternative plans. The idea of being on meds for the rest of my life isn't something I want to do (unless it's absolutely necessary) and I'm hoping eating healthier and getting more exercise will be my main issue (not hypothyroid).

if your thyroid is not functioning changing your diet alone will not make a difference. I hate to be on meds too but mine is not working which is why meds are needed.
I gained wt since FEB 5 pounds and very tired but with levels low I should feel hyper and Im not

I asked my Dr about that and she was not a fan. I would like something more natural but I don't like the thought of using something they take from a pig.
I would love to know how you feel if you take the armour

Re: Thyroid levels
Thank you ladies for replying. I asked my primary doctor for the test results and he said my TSH level is 5.06. I went ahead and have an appointment with an endocrinologist tomorrow. I don't mind starting taking medicine, if the symptoms get better. Let's wait and see what I'm told tomorrow.

Follow hypothyroid mom on Facebook. Also wellness mamas blog, she has hashimotos.
You need a sono of thyroid and an antibody test to determine if you have a disorder or a disease. Either way you will be prescribed Synthroid or generic. Technically it's not medicine but hormone.
For those that have hashimotos and choose to NOT take anything you're just killing off your thyroid faster by allowing the body to attack it more. Technically there is nothing wrong with your thyroid except that your immune system is attacking it. It's an immune issue.
I have done so so so much better on amour which is a pig thyroid. Please do your own research. Doctors have no clue, even endos. The new normal really should be between 1-2 for tsh but it's the collection of all the numbers together. And even if they're in the normal zone like me you can still not feel good. Going gluten free has also lowered my thyroid antibodies meaning my immune system isn't attacking my thyroid as much thus preserving thyroid function for longer.
I feel like these past few years have been such a cluster with these doctors who are so nasty thinking they're the only ones who know anything and dismissing anything I've found on that damn unreliable Internet. It's been a 6 year journey for me.
