HELP - my dog is wiping her ass on my carpet
So everytime she goes #2, she comes in and drags her ass by sitting and using her two front paws to pull herself along, across my carpet. Its really funny, but also really gross. This is totally new in the last two weeks or so. No inflammation, normal BMs, not paying any other particular attention to the area, everything else appears totally normal. She does it once after she goes and then not again until the next time. How do I get her to stop wiping her ass, or whatever she is doing on my carpet?!?!?!?! Its EXACTLY like this.....

Maybe she needs her anal glands expressed.
Or she has a prolapsed rectum which is rare but just thought I'd mention it because that behavior could be a symptom.

Get Anal Glands Checked. That's usually the first sign. The scooting.
Also, have you noticed any extra odor? Sometimes it smells fishy.

Like the others said, it's probably the anal glands (ewww!) The vet can take care of it - not a big deal at all, just kind of nasty

I would also have him checked for worms. You can do a visual check yourself as well - take a look at his stool and see if you can spot them. But I would also send a sample in to the vet and have it tested.

I agree with all the above.. but it could also be allergies as well.. My brothers dog did it and after all was said and done, she was just itchy due to allergies.

Always the sign it's time to express her anal glands again. Vet does it, thank god, but the smell when I pick her up makes me gag, whatever they put on her after I think.
