Diabetes....was diagnosed
I posted over a year ago that I was pre-diabetic - I lost the weight the Dr. wanted me to -and went back to "normal" range. Gained the weight back and went to dr. and was diagnosed this weekend :(
So scared.... have anxiety over it A1C was 6.7 doctor said since it was on the lower end to change diet to low carb / sugar and come back in three months, re-run blood work and then see if meds are needed.
I am vegetarian so low carb is hard, but I will do it.
Anyone have any advice for me ?

Re: Diabetes....was diagnosed
The first thing I try to tell people who I know are recently diagnosed is that it's not a terminal disease. I've had Type 1 for over 30 years. I've played many sports, gone camping for weeks at a time, etc, etc. Nobody ever bothered telling me that when I was diagnosed, so I honestly thought I was going to die before I reached 20 years old.
Get a (several) book/website on the Glycemic Index. It's much more useful than "low carbs". Fruits and vegetables have "carbs". For diabetics, the types of carbs is more important than the quantity (within reason). You want to have a stable blood sugar level, so you want to have carbs with a low G.I. so your blood sugar won't spike or plummet.

Thank you Shawn I believe we've "spoken" on here before about this topic. I have to get my act together and stop reading the bad stuff And focus first on loosing weight with the right carb and sugar intake. I will be researching a lot the week Thank you :)
