Strollers in Suburbia

So I know it's a little early but DH and I will be purchasing some of the big ticket items ourselves so we're trying to get a grasp on how much $$ we need to save.

For DD I lived in the city so my stroller needs were very different. Now we live on LI and I have no clue what type of stroller will be best for us.

I work in the city and so does DH so basically we will only be using the stroller on the weekends. I really liked the reverse facing feature on the strollers I had for DD but I did much more walking with her in the stroller.

So far we have looked at

Uppa Baby Cruz
Peg Perego Book
City Mini GT

I don't mind shelling out the $$ for the first two IF I will get a lot of use out of them but if not then I rather just go to the City Mini. I already have a Maclaren Volo from DD that I kept that I will be using as an umbrella. So suburban working moms what type of strollers are you registering for or do you have? TIA

I had the City Mini and LOVED it
So lightweight, so easy to open and close with one hand, easy to maneuver

LOVED it

We have the Uppa Cruz and used it when we lived in the city and the suburbs with the infant carrier attachment at first, and in both facing positions. DS is 3 now and we still use it a ton b/c he loves walks, but we also have a nanny so she uses it a lot in the neighborhood.

I don't know the other two well but I would buy the Cruz again, esp now that they made a ride along board for the older sibling.

We also have an umbrella one we use for travel.

This! I registered for the city mini. My sister has it and I do a lot of babysitting and love her stroller! It's so easy to maneuver.

Re: Strollers in Suburbia

I have the city mini from DS 1 - but barely used it enough to love it (he's four). Like you, my usage was just weekends - and it did it's job.....but I hated that the basket was so tough to access.

Obviously I'll use it now for DS 2, but not sure I need that much stroller!

I can't say enough about the City Mini GT. It was a dream.

I have only done limited research (and haven't registered) but I'm leaning towards either the Uppababy Vista or Cruz. I'm trying to decide if I really need the bassinet.

What about the vista? I personally don't see the appeal of the city mini.

Can I ask what stroller you thought was best for the city? We are in the city and like Uppababy Vista (mostly because so many other people have it in our area) but curious what I should want/need for the city!

Re: Strollers in Suburbia

We had the britax b-agile, and while I loved it, dd needed to face us. So after she outgrew the infant car seat, we had to buy a peg perego book plus just so she could face us (plus, she was a little low tone and needed a little more seat support than the b-agile/city mini type of stroller).

This was 7+ years ago but for walking I really loved my bugaboo. It's slim enough to fit in tight NYC stores and pushes like a dream. If we were still in the city I would get the bugaboo buffalo. If I were you I would go to Giggle and check out the strollers. Everyone seems to love their Uppababy strollers too

I happen to love it but my husband doesn't. It's a little bulky. Had the Cruz been around then, I probably would have looked at that. At the time, the book plus was the only semi-affordable one available that faced both ways.

I do like that the baby can lay flat in the peg perego, which you can't do with the Cruz, as it's a toddler seat. You also have to think about what car seat you will be using. I had a britax, and uppababy does not make a kit to attach britax car seats.

We lived in urban and suburban and used the same strollers for both - City Mini and City Mini Double.

Thanks. Yes I love the lay flat option in the Book plus. It's good for changing a diaper in pinch if you can't find a changing station. Can't do that with a bucket seat. We have the Maxi Cosi car seat and both Uppa and Peg have adaptors for it so that is not a concern. Thanks again!!
