I'm out for now
I did my first round of IVF and by choice, I transferred 1 day 5 blast. When I went in for a PG test 9dp5dt, my beta was a measly 6. I repeated the test yesterday (2 days) later and it was in the negatives. I'm not exactly sure what happened- the nurse said to make an appt with my RE to discuss.
I have frozen embryos so I can do a few FETs before moving on to IVF # 2. My RE had wanted to transfer 2 blasts but I was a little nervous and asked to start with 1. Now I wish I had transferred 2- will definitely do that for the FET, which won't be until beginning of 2016- I just need a break from all of this.
For those who did FET-
Did all of your frozen embryos survive the thaw?
What medications where you on to prep for the FET?
Thanks.

Re: I'm out for now
Im sorry. I have no advice on the FET b/c this is my first cycle, and i had none to freeze.
I've been told its easier though to do FET's and many people have success with it.
hugs to you!!

I'm out for now
First off I'm so sorry. I also had one of my IVF fresh cycles end with a chemical pregnancy and it's heart breaking. For me we had one frozen embie from that cycle and it thawed perfect and I did end up getting pregnant from that FET. FET is much much easier on your body than a fresh cycle. I agree with you I would give your body a rest for a few months then go onto the FET. I didn't I jumped right into an FET and although I got pregnant I m/c at 7 weeks which was devastating. I really feel like my body needed that time off to recoup from all the meds from the fresh cycle
The good thing if you want to look at it that way is that you did get pregnant from your first IVF. A lot of times the first IVF doesn't result in a BFP..it's more of a "test" run to see how your body reacts to the medicine and what protocols work. Also you said you have frozen embryos as in plural. That is awesome. We have done 3 fresh cycles and out of the 3 cycles only once did we end up with 1 frostie. Having frozen embryos is usually not the norm so the fact that you do is great.
Good luck to you

Re: I'm out for now
I have no advice for a FET, we never had any frosties. Just wanted to say how sorry I am that your first IVF didn't work. I think you're smart to take some time off to recuperate. You'll know when you're ready to try again. I have heard that a FET is easier on your body.

Re: I'm out for now
A lot of doctors are showing women have more success with a FET than a fresh cycle since the body has some time to rest. Good luck to you next cycle!!!

I'm out for now
First I am sorry. I just did an FET and I did a natrual cycle. I was only on medrol (steroid), doxycline, and baby asprin. I went in about 5 times for them to check my follicles. Once I had ovulated they set me up for the transfer 5 days later. They defrosted 1 embryo and it survived the thaw.

I'm out for now
I've done a few FETs and it's so much easier than a fresh cycle. My last FET cycle I only had to take estrogen and progesterone and went in for minimal monitoring appts. I wish you lots of luck on your next cycle

Re: I'm out for now
I'm sorry your cycle didn't work out.
For me I never had luck with fresh cycles. My 2 youngest DC were off of FET cycles (2013 and 2015). Both cycles I transferred 2 and one took. Reason why I transferred 2 is to give me a better shot of at least 1 sticking since IVF is so expensive.
Take the time needed to get yourself mentally and physically prepared before starting again. FET cycles are so much easier than fresh.
Good luck

Re: I'm out for now
I just had my appointment today with my RE to discuss FETs. We have 6 frozen from our 2nd IVF cycle. From what I understood you can choose a natural cycle where you get monitored and they time the transfer based on your own cycle OR you can take BC so that your cycle is more controlled. I'm choosing to take BC as soon as my AF arrives. Then I will be on BC for a few weeks, then estrace for a few days then the transfer happens.
Because it has been 3 years since my last visit I have to redo water sono, endometrial biopsy and all the other screenings.

Thanks everyone. I saw my RE today. He thinks we may be able to do a natural FET. I won't be doing it until early 2016 though.
