Anyone ever experience this?

I have been having chest pains since Sunday. On and off. It is right in the middle of my breast and right below. It comes and goes. Never after strenuous activity. Usually while resting. It is like a squeezing feeling. Almost like a contraction. It is ver painful and scary.
I went to the ER yesterday at Southside. I have never been there before and was far from happy with my experience. It took over an hour before ANYBODY even talked to me. I was given an EKG and blood and urine labs and X-ray. All came back normal. I was given IV fluids and IV Pepcid. I am still in pain. I was there for 7 hours and have no answer. I have a doctors appointment on Thursday. I need to know what to ask for. While in the ER i was never hooked up to a heart monitor or pulse ox. Nothing. I feel like that should have been taken a little more seriously. My mother in law says to ask about gallbladder. I am terrified of having a heart attack. I have 3 small kids and want to have another baby soon. But I need to figure this out. Does anyone have any suggestions or insight to offer? I do not believe it is indigestion. Thanks so much!

Life is stressful but I never feel anxious. Like it doesn't happen when I'm thinking about anything stressful. Could it still be anxiety?

Re: Anyone ever experience this?

are you drinking enough water? did you do strenuous exercise that might have strained or inflamed something? do you feel it in your sleep- like does it keep you up at night? do you think it can be related to gas or food at all?

ETA: I see you already answered my middle two questions... i didn't read well enough. Could still just be gas or food related. and try upping your water intake, but with IV fluids it would have stopped I think. Ask about gallbladder but that pain is usually much lower i think.

Re: Anyone ever experience this?

Gallbladder pain is generally under your right rib cage.
Is it there at all?

I definitely do not drink enough, I am very guilty of this. I have not exercised strenuously or otherwise in a while. It does wake me and keep me up at night. I have never had indigestion before. I have had acid reflux. But it is not brought on after I eat. And it does not feel like gas. It is a deep chest pain. It hurts through to my back. Directly behind where it hurts in my chest.

No not under my right ribcage. Literally in the center of my chest. The sternum area.

God I know this all too well

Anxiety happens a lot when you are at rest. You would think it would happen while going through something , but it tends to happen when you are rest

List of reasons I have had chest pain:

Anxiety
Acid Reflux / GERD
Endometriosis
Costochondritis (Inflammation of cartilage in ribcage)
Gastritis (referred pain to chest)
Asthma (from allergies - again, referred pain)

I'd go to your PCP as soon as you can for a full work up.
In the meantime, eat a bland diet in case it is reflux. No caffeine , chocolate or spicy foods. Turkey sandwich , white bread, crackers, ginger ale, chicken broth based soups.

And obviously if it gets any worse at any point with extreme pain, chest, arm, jaw - fatigue, sweating, nausea... Go back to ER

I watched a specia on women's heart attacks recently and they said ERs don't take women w chest pain seriously bc they don't present like men. So if u have to ... LIE. say u have an elephant on your chest and can't breathe. They'll get you in and worked up ASAP in that case.

Best of luck to you.

Re: Anyone ever experience this?

Sounds like esophageal spasms. The first time I got them, I thought I was dying. Mine was caused by acid reflux. The dr told me to get nexium. Once the acid was gone I stopped getting the spasms. HTH!

Re: Anyone ever experience this?

Does it hurt when you press the area? If so, I'd ask about costochondritis.

Re: Anyone ever experience this?

Sounds like GERD. I had it terrible, real bad. I started on Omneprazole and started to feel better within days. My dr. did do an EKG and had me do a cardiac stress test and all was fine. I was super convinced it was heart related because I have high blood pressure and I am on meds, but I am assured it's not. And yes, anxiety plays a huge part in it too, even if you feel as though you don't have anxiety.

Also lay off the caffeine. My husband was getting chest pain and heart palpitations, had an EKG and everything came back fine. He cut down to 2 cups of coffee a day and the chest pains went away. Drink more water too!
