Mixing appliance brands?? Need new fridge.
Anyone mix appliance brands? My fridge just crapped out and I need to pick one out and get it delivered asap. Availability might be an issue on such short notice. I currently have all GE profile stainless appliances. I never liked by fridge. Can I go with another brand or will it look out of place?
Anyone love their refridgerator? I currently have side by side, hate it. Definately looking for french doors, also needs to be counter depth. TIA!!

LG makes a nice fridge. My oven is viking, my dishwasher is bosch, and my fridge is jenair. I love the stove and dishwasher. The fridge is fine, but I really liked my LG.

Re: Mixing appliance brands?? Need new fridge.
I just bought a GE counter depth French door fridge. Had it delivered last weekend and I LOVE it already. It's a 23 cubic foot fridge, so its really not that small compared to the non-counter depth fridges.
My brother has been the appliance manager at Lowes for close to 10 years now. He told us that mixing and matching is fine EXCEPT with Frigidaire appliances because their stainless steel is vastly different from all the other brands and will never quite "match" the rest of them. For fridges though, he highly recommended us to looks at LG and Samsung. We ended up with the GE though mainly because of the configuration and size and so far we're very happy with it.

I'm crazy and couldn't handle the mix and match so I got everything by the same brand. lol But that aside, I have an LG french door fridge and I LOVE it! No issues so far and it's so spacious. I'm very happy with it.

Re: Mixing appliance brands?? Need new fridge.
I just went through this whole debate myself. Then I realized why would I buy appliances that are matchy match rather than the best of that appliance. Unless they are directly next to each other, you will never notice the slight differences in coloration.
And, as an aside, my friend had a GE profile fridge and it was nothing but problems the whole time. It just crapped out for the 3rd time and she was happy to get rid of it.

Mixing appliance brands?? Need new fridge.
I picked out appliances based on the features I liked, price, reviews, etc - each one was a different brand. Never phased me at all and I don't think it looked strange. I definitely don't think I've ever walked in to anyone's kitchen and thought, wow, their appliances are all different brands - why'd they do that? LOL (and I don't think I've ever even noticed whether anyone's appliances were all the same brand or not)

Re: Mixing appliance brands?? Need new fridge.
All my appliances are different brands. They look fine together. My refrigerator is an Electrolux French door. I like the fridge with the exception of the ice maker. We have had several problems with it.

Mine all are different. It is more important to get the best appliance than to match IMO. I have GE oven & micro/oven, Bosch Dishwasher, Dacor Rangetop, LG Fridge, and Danby beverage fridge.

Re: Mixing appliance brands?? Need new fridge.
Thank you all for your replies! I went with an LG. I had problems from day 1 with my GE, the LG just seemed sturdier, had much for room, and Lowe's posted black Friday prices today! Hoping it comes early tomorrow so some of my freezer food makes it, already lost everything in the fridge.

Re: Mixing appliance brands?? Need new fridge.
If you have the freezer on the bottom, can you buy some bags of ice and put them in the freezer and fridge (cool air sinks???)
I'd hate HATE to lose food!!

Mixing appliance brands?? Need new fridge.
I mixed appliances. The only thing I did was make sure that the handles were all the same. Some are curved, some are more angled. To my OCD brain if one was curved and one was squared I wouldn't be able to concentrate lol.

We mixed appliances as well - nobody notices and it looks fine.
Hope you have better luck with your LG fridge than my mom did - hers was nothing but trouble since day one. Good luck!

We have a Samsung French. Very roomy for us. We love it.
And yes, we mix brands. I can't imagine not.

Mixing appliance brands?? Need new fridge.
We have mixed appliance brands in our kitchen. Our dishwasher is Maytag, our fridge Amana and our oven is Hotpoint - they are all white though and it doesn't stand out at all.

Re: Mixing appliance brands?? Need new fridge.
Mine are all mixes- right now they are all different finishes, too, but they brands will never match. I had very limited options for the size stove that fits in my tiny kitchen, so I have a Premier and they don't make other appliances.

We have the GE Cafe, we've had it about two months and are happy with it. Have you looked at that model? We didn't care for the other GE's but liked this one.
If you go with another brand, you risk the stainless steel not matching. If the appliances aren't right next to each other it may not be a huge deal though.

Ours are mixed. As long as the color is the same, mixing brands isn't a big deal IMO. But mismatched appliances make me twitchy.
