Registering for bedding
Someone please tell me a list of "pieces" that I should be registering for with regard to crib bedding. There are so many options and I'm not sure which are most necessary.

Re: Registering for bedding
For DS I only used a waterproof mattress pad under a fitted sheet. Once he was rolling around I used a breathable bumper to keep the pacifiers in.

Registering for bedding
we got the whole set. But my Brother & SIL wanted to get it for us. But all we use is the fitted sheet and bumper. It came with the quilt and skirt as well.

Re: Registering for bedding
So I should register for:
Quilt set (which seems to include, in this set at least, a fitted sheet and dust ruffle)
Bumpers. (is there a best kind? I just picked the ones that match the bedding)
Extra sheets.
Something waterproof for the mattress.
?? Are there more pieces for the actual crib set that I'm forgetting? I also put on things like a hamper, diaper holder, lamp, that match the set.

Re: Registering for bedding
Breathable bumper Fitted sheet
The dust ruffle I did get but it didn't fit right on the crib and didn't drop enough and looked terrible- it would just bunch up. So that was a waste too

Bumpers are linked to SIDS so I'd avoide the puffy ones from the bedding sets and go with breathable if anything at all
And you won't use the quilt/comforter on the baby- so unless you want it to display somewhere- over a chair or something, I'd skip that too

Registering for bedding
Sheets, breathable bumpers, halo sleepsacks, matress pads. THAT IS IT. You will never use the bumpers the sets come with, never use the comforter, the skirt is a PIA when you have to change the sheets and/or mattress pad, because you have to life the whole damn mattress out of the crib to get everything back on.
Ahhhh what you know as a 2nd time mom you didn't as a first. I could have saved so much money lol

youre better off with a muslin material thin blanket. The quilt (at least ours) isnt really that comfortable. Hailey will be 3 and we still use muslin blankets.

Registering for bedding
I'm probably not going to register for bedding, but I do plan on buying a set with comforter for no reason other than that they're pretty (FTM, I know, I know). Obviously I'm not going to leave it in the crib with the baby but I can put it on the glider.
I won't do bumpers though, not worth the risk for me and I don't love the look of the breathable ones.

Re: Registering for bedding
I really have my heart set on a specific "theme" so I will likely get the quilt and just use it elsewhere. B/c its so cute.

Re: Registering for bedding
For DS we got a whole bedding set plus a waterproof mattress pad, and later breathable bumpers. Of that, we only used the mattress pad. We later bought jersey sheets which I prefer. Almost 3 years later we never used that blanket that came with the bedding set. I actually have no idea where it even is. Waste of money! Used the breathable bumpers for a hot minute before deciding there was no need.
For DD, we learned our lesson. We bought a waterproof mattress pad and 3 jersey sheets. That's it.

That's what I did. My 20m old still doesn't use the quilt. I just have it draped over the glider.
No bumpers but many sets either don't come with it or they sell it separately.

Registering for bedding
For DD I did the whole set. We didn't use the quilt though.
This time I'm doing sheets, crib skirt, breathable bumper and teething rail that matches the collection I want.

For bumpers check out wonder bumpers. I used them with DD. Worth every penny!

Re: Registering for bedding
To me, sets are a waste.
Bumpers are a SIDS hazard, as are quilts.
I just got a white crib skirt, crib sheets, and a breathable bumper. There are tons of adorable mix and match sets now with those components.

Re: Registering for bedding
For D I fell in love with a discontinued PBK set. I bought the bumpers and quilt new in package on ebay (yes I know those are the 2 pieces you dont need). I bought the zipper crib sheets in a coordinating color which are super awesome. We draped the quilt over the glider, and I put the bumpers in for show before he slept in his room, took them out when he used the crib, and added them back in when he was much older.
B didnt get a bedding set at all, just a bunch of cute sheets. He's been using D's bumpers lately bc he has been whacking his head against the sides so I may ask for a set that matches the rest of his room for the holidays.
If I was having baby #1 I would strongly consider registering for the mesh mattress thing rather than a mattress and sheets just because it looks awesome and you can put baby down to sleep on his belly. Look into that, it seems awesome

Perfectly said! I had a second chance. I helped my sister register and we just registered for sheets, halo ss, and the pads!
P.s. I curse the bed skirt every time I change the sheets lol!

Re: Registering for bedding
The one thing I was pissed I bought for my first was the bedding set. I only used the fitted sheet. I used aden and anais blankets when I started letting them sleep with blankets. I used nothing else. Those sets are just for show IMO and not practical or safe.

Re: Registering for bedding
I registered for a set that had quilt, bumpers that matched, dust ruffle....I used all of it. I never had a problem with the bumpers at all. I used the quilt after he was older and in a toddler bed as his covering at night. I'd get a whole set and use what you feel comfortable with. No blankets or quilts until after 1 year though.
