Looking for a trainer
My parents have a shepherd and she has slowly become more anxious. She is 4 years old and my patterns started putting her away in the bedroom when guests came over after a roofer who was working on gone house just waked in and the dog went crazy barking and showing teeth. She has never bitten anyone or ever shown any type of aggression. But I think she senses my parents anxiety. Now she won't walk on a leash. She goes crazy when people walk by barking jumping up in the window. I want to get her a trainer to help her. I'm nervous because I have no idea how she would react to a stranger. Are there trainers who know how to deal with this? We are in Suffolk.

Re: Looking for a trainer
We used a trainer whose name I can't recall. I think her first name was Debbie. Her facility was connected to Total Pet Care in Holbrook ( a pet food warehouse)
Total Pet Care - Dog Works training
She was very caring and took a somewhat "holistic" approach to training - like she tried to understand / explain why a dog would have certain behaviors and address it from that aspect. I really liked her and she taught us some important things (training is really more for the people who have to learn how to deal with the dog and follow through. The trainer can "train" the dog, but if there is no consistency at home, it won't work - that's kind of where DH & I failed lol)
