Lump in breast - update
So I noticed a lump in my breast last week. It can really only be felt when I am laying down with my arms up and I really push my fingers into the breast. If I turn to the side a little while doing this, it is really noticeable. It is a very hard lump. DH felt it also.
Of course I need to get it checked out. I already have my annual with my OB/GYN scheduled for mid Jan. I was actually going to ask about going on the pill. Would this hold me back from going on the pill?
Also, I'm wondering if this can wait till I see him in Jan? I just really don't feel like dealing with this right now before the holidays. But part of me is wondering what if it is something? Even if it is, is waiting till Jan the worst thing?
I'm 36. I had a baseline mammo and sonogram done last year (my grandmother had breast cancer so dr just wanted me to have one at 35). Everything was fine. I had the sono bc I have dense breasts and mammo wasn't clear. But after sono, he said all looked good and I wouldn't need another one till 40. So I guess deep down I'm thinking ok it's gonna be fine, I was just checked last year.
Any advice? Thoughts? Opinions?
Update- had it checked. Doc felt it also but he wasn't too worried. Mammo and sono were fine. It was dense breast tissue. I'm not gonna lie. I was sweating bullets when the dr was reading the mammo (they had me wait 45 minutes!) so I thought something was wrong! Thanks to all of you who pushed me to go. Glad it's over!

Lump in breast
I would go ASAP. For me, what's the sense in putting it off. Even if you're not technically dealing with it over the holidays it would be in the back of my mind the whole time anyway. Go and hopefully it will be nothing and you'll get peace of mind and then you can truly enjoy the holidays.
And if Gd forbid it is something, I'd want to deal with it right away before it got worse.

Re: Lump in breast
Go now! Don't put yourself through the waiting
I just went through the the same thing! Found a lump, went back and forth on moving up appt. finally I moved it up. The doctor said he didn't feel it but sent me for a mammo and sono anyway.
There was a lump. I had a biopsy and thankfully all is ok!
It was a stressful couple of weeks though! it's nothing for you!

Re: Lump in breast
Thanks for all the advice. Yes, that's what I thought. DH is pushing me to move my appt up also. So of course I finally get up the nerve to call my dr and they are closed today. So now gotta call Monday which I will wait until late morning since I'm sure they will be crazy with a million calls after the long weekend. Just great. Another thing to squeeze in these next few weeks!!
Yes, trying not to think about it too much. Hoping it's nothing. This time of year is always hard for me since my moms absolute favorite time of year was Christmas and her birthday is in December (she passed away 3 years ago). So I really try to focus on Christmas and being happy for my kids and we go all out. Don't want any negativity or to hear any bad news right now which is probably why I was trying to procrastinate.

Re: Lump in breast
I don't want to scare you and I am sure it is most likely nothing! But I would absolutely not wait. I have a friend with the exact same story you posted except that she had a normal mammo and sono two months before finding the small lump (also only when lying on her stomach). She is ok now but it did not turn out to be nothing. With breast cancer - the sooner you catch it the better it is. And yes maybe a few months could make a difference. I would never wait until January!! I'm sure you are fine but I wouldn't wait even though I understand the reasons you would want to.

Thank you. I appreciate it. This is the kick in the pants I needed. I'm hopeful it's nothing as well but will def be calling my dr Monday.

Lump in breast
Don't wait, I had the exact same thing and they sent me for a biopsy. It was nothing thank god but for a piece of mind just do it. The biopsy was very fast and did not hurt so don't be scared. Good luck!!
