At 20 weeks think I want to switch doctors

My OB/GYN no longer delivers babies so he referred me to a practice in the city and I'm so frustrated.

I'm AMA plus I had GD with DD and I'm pretty sure that I have it now and I have a history of losses.

I've been going there since 10 weeks and at almost all my appointments something goes wrong. Today topped the cake. I had my 20 week sono and when I made my appointment two weeks ago I specified that I need to see one of the high risk doctors in the practice because of my GD. They OK'ed me to death, set up an appt and when I get there of course it wasn't with the high risk doctor. Now I have to take more time off of work and go back to speak to him so I can get put on inuslin. Each time I see a different doctor and none of them even take the time to find out my history before they are literally reading my chart as I'm sitting in front of them. Not to mention that the wait times are ridiculous...I easily spend up to 2 hours there every time and I constantly need to remind them what needs to be done so I want to switch.

Does anyone have any referrals for a good MFM doctor either in the city that delivers at NYU, Cornell or Mt. Sinai or a doctor in Nassau that delivers at NSUH or LIJ?

Thanks!!

I don't have any recs for doctors in your area, but I just wanted to say that with my first pregnancy I switched doctors around 20 weeks, and I was so happy that I did. Don't stick with a doctor you're not happy with.

I was going to say the same pretty much.. That the only thing worse than being with a practice you don't like for 20 weeks is being with that practice for 20 weeks and one day!

I'd go where you will be comfortable and happy for the second half of your pregnancy.

I don't have recs for those hospitals, just wanted to chime in!

Thanks ladies. I'm definitely switching..now off to find a doctor.

My dilemma is that I work in the city but live in Mass. Pk so I'm trying to find a MFM that is convenient...ugh..

I'm 19 weeks also and I made an appointment with a new doctor for next week. I'm really not comfortable with the office I'm at now. I just posted about it the other day too!

Try calling your insurance and see if they can give you any ideas for a MD!

I get all my ultrasounds and lab work at MFM Associates--I go to the one on Madison and 31st but there is also a location uptown. I've had a great experience there with Dr. Saltzman and Dr. Fox and I believe they are affiliated with Mount Sinai.

Thanks.

RacheK I was going to use your referral but I was able to get an appointment with my BFFs OB/GYN. I feel so relieved. Thanks everyone!
