career help
I have been in my position which is listed as Administrative Assistant for almost 12 years. My base salary is $42K, I probably make around $46-48K when all is said and done. I have a two year liberal arts degree. I am almost 35 years old. I would like to make more money but I'm not sure what to do with myself. I'm not opposed to going back to school but it needs to give me significant salary increase. I've looked into executive assistant positions but it requires extensive knowledge of powerpoint, excel and maintaining calendars which I have never done. Sure I could lie, like most people do, but what do I do when I'm put on the spot. I honestly feel lost and I just want to cry.

Re: career help
Maybe you can find one of those jobs that has the majority of the things you do and then you can ask if they would be willing to train you on the others that you do not know.

Re: career help
I feel like they offer workshops in local community colleges or other continuing ed programs that offer training on word, excel, powerpoint, etc. so I would go that route if you can so that you feel more comfortable applying for these positions.

I agree. Exec assistants can make 6-figure salaries!
