Re: Christmas dessert ideas?
Well cookies are usually the obvious choice, but for something different:
chocolate pudding pie with whipped cream (and if you like peppermint- you can add candy cane/peppermint shavings to the top!)
you can always make a yummy smores dip with the melted chocolate and toasted marshmallows on top and then have graham crackers, pretzel sticks, various fruits to dip in it.
i dont usually like these, but some people on christmas make good trifles, where it is like ground up pound cake with pudding or whipped cream layers and fruit layers. ive seen some red white and green ones that have looked so festive.
im sure people would love cheesecake.
im not sure if this is too similar to cookies which you didnt want but i always love an assorted candy platter! we usually put out various chocolates as well as nuts and dried fruits.

Re: Christmas dessert ideas?
I make an ice box cake. MY grandmother used to make it and I am carrying on her tradition. My family gobbles it up.
Ice Box Cake
ETA: I never put it in the freezer, we just eat it right out of the fridge. I got the Nabisco Chocolate Wafer Cookies at King Kullen.

Cream Puffs
These are AMAZING cream puffs and really easy...the secret is instant pudding mix combined with heavy cream for the filling....I make them every year for Christmas and they are a huge hit with our family.

We eat icebox cake on Christmas eve...ours is layers of homemade whipped cream, lady fingers, nabisco wafer cookies, and crushed pineapple. We make it in a trifle dish.
