Would you call the doctor
For brownish spotting? It's very light, but has been continuing since last night. I can only see it on the toilet paper, not on my underwear. I am 8 weeks 1 day, and had a MC at 8 weeks this past May, so I am bugging out. I don't know if I am overreacting or not. I have a regular appointment and sono coming up on Wednesday. Any advice or experience?

Re: Would you call the doctor
I had the same type of spotting. I called the dr and they asked if I had any cramping (no). They were not concerned and I didn't go in, but IMO doesn't hurt to call- even if just for peace of mind.

Would you call the doctor
I would call. It's always good to keep them informed and get an opinion on what to do. I am sure it is fine, but maybe they can take you a little sooner than Wednesday to be sure

Re: Would you call the doctor
I'd probably call just for peace of mind. FWIW, with my first pregnancy, I had bright red bleeding at 11 weeks. My doctor saw me, the u/s showed everything was fine and I just relaxed for the next day or two and drank plenty of water. I didn't have any issues after that and now have a healthy 7 year old. I hope everything is okay.

Agreed with the above- after a history of losses, I'd call to put my mind at ease. I'm sure it's all fine, but it doesn't hurt!

Agree. I'm sure it's fine and pretty common but I would call to put your mind at ease.

Would you call the doctor
I had bleeding with this pregnancy until 13 weeks. It was spotting, to gushes. I always called and went in for piece of mind. I wound up having an SCH.
I am sure all is fine, and I am so happy to see you are 8 weeks!!!

Would you call the doctor
I had spotting at 7w and called the OB. They had me come in for my sono early. Turns out everything was fine but I was happy I went for the peace of mind alone. I would definitely call and hopefully it's nothing. GL!

Re: Would you call the doctor
Thanks everyone.
I called the doctor at noon. Talked to the nurse who tried to reassure me it's probably nothing bc I don't have cramps. But given my history, she said she'd talk to the doctor and get back to me. I haven't heard back yet.
I'm beside myself but hoping it's nothing. I never had bleeding while pregnant even with my MC (was a missed mc).

Would you call the doctor
I would call. I had major bleeding episodes with both of my healthy pregnancies and they had me come into the office every time. Hope everything is okay!!

Re: Would you call the doctor
Hope everything is ok. If it helps you feel better, I had brown spotting pretty much my whole 1st trimester. It was awfully scary, but it was nothing and now my DD is a healthy 2 year old.

Re: Would you call the doctor
The spotting is heavier today but off and on. Mostly off. But it is coming in waves. I have a bad feeling. My doctor never bothered to call me back yesterday. I'm extremely upset right now. I was working all day today and I know there's nothing they'll do until Monday anyway. I'll call the on-call doctor if I start cramping or it's even heavier tomorrow. Or maybe just go to the ER? My doctor better see me for a sono on Monday. I feel like switching doctors, I am so disappointed they never called me back.

Ugh I hate that the doctors are like that.. I would want to go to the ER as well, but I did that once for similar reasons, and was stuck waiting forever because they have to write a long report in radiology after the u/s. To me, it was more upsetting to sit there than to just sit at home and let it all play out.
Is the spotting still brown, or is it red? If it is still brown and there are no clots, you shouldn't worry too much (easier said than done, I know)

Would you call the doctor
With my first I had spotting on and off until 10 weeks. DS is now 3 years old. The spotting was sometimes brown, sometimes pink and once it was bright red. I went to the doctor to get checked whenever I saw it bc I always panicked. It happened once after hours (the time it was red) and I went to the ER. I was 8 weeks. The triage nurse told me I was most likely miscarrying and I had to sit waiting for hours for them to do an sono with that in my head. It was awful!! Everything turned out fine and I wanted to slap that nurse for saying that to me! I hope it's a good outcome for you as well. I would call first thing tomorrow and ask for a sono! Good Luck!

Re: Would you call the doctor
Thanks everyone. I called the on-call doctor and he actually returned my call. He said I should be ok for now if it is just brown spotting and a little cramping (though I'm so nervous, I can't tell if it's just upset stomach cramps or something else). If the bleeding gets bright red, I have to go to the ER. Otherwise, hopefully a sono tomorrow with my regular doctor.
I'm hoping for the best, but I am so scared it's another MC and right before christmas, too.

good luck with your sono tomorrow.. You did the right thing by calling. I always say they get paid the big bucks to take calls like those... In the meantime, I'd stay off my feet if I were you and stay hydrated, take it as an excuse to rest and catch up on the dvr.
