This is our third but we're going to need a new infant seat. The one I had was I believe a Graco Snugride 32. Just wondering if this is still considered a good seat or if there is something more popular now. I still have the snap n go stroller, so it wold be nice to be able to use that again.

I registered for Chico key fit 30 magic infant car seat. I copied what my sister has and she uses it with her snap and go.

All car seats have to pass the same testing. Graco is a standard name brand. If you have the Graco Snap n Go, I'd stick to a Graco carseat.

We had Graco with DS and reused the same carseat with DD since it's not expired yet. Got to use the same Snap n Go, too.

All car seats do pass the same testing, but for infant seats I would avoid Baby Trend brand and Evenflo brand. Their lowest harness heights are too high to fit an average newborn (the harnesses MUST come from below the baby's shoulders when rear facing)

Thanks everyone. Yes, I am well aware that all car seats pass the same inspection but obviously people tend to prefer certain models for different reasons.

What infant car seat are you registering for?

We got the Maxi Cosi Mico because I got a sick deal on one.

From what I have read the Chiccos are the most highly rated but are $$$$.

For DD we had a Graco which is also highly rated and more affordable and we loved it.

If I didn't find the Maxi Cosi for a good deal we would have gone for a Graco car seat.

There are no "higher rated" just highly recommended and high ease of use

What infant car seat are you registering for?

Nuna Pipa but aren't tied to anything.

We are looking for the lightest car seats since we don't have a car and will be using to transport mostly in cabs. Do you guys know if your car seats are pretty lightweight? I was only planning to do Nuna Pipa because I see a lot of the them in the city and people say they are lightweight.

Maxi Cosi is light and I believe the Cybex infant seat is also light.

These are the weights of popular infant car seats:

Nuna Pipa is 7.9lbs w/o canopy and insert
Cybex Aton is 8.8lbs
Maxi cosi mico AP is 8lbs (only has a weigh Limit of 22lbs)
Chicco keyfit is 9lbs
Graco snugride 30lx is 7lbs (have it and love it and it's still heavy with the baby in it lol)
Britax B-Safe is 9+ lbs
Urbini petal is under 8lbs
Safety 1st onboard 35 (not air) is 8lbs. Air version is 9lbs

I have the Chicco Key Fit in Romantic. Only thing I don't like about it is it's starting to get heavy. DS is 13lbs and 5 months old so not fun to lug around.
