Colposcopy
I'm having a colposcopy done in about two weeks. I'm extremely nervous about this, even had nightmares about the pain. A regular pap feels uncomfortable to me so I can't imagine this. Part of my anxiety is from having an endometrial biopsy 2 years ago. That was a horrible experience for me, very painful to say the least. Please tell me this is different I'm really scared.

Re: Colposcopy
The colposcopy is just to closely examine the cervix. I've had it and don't recall it being painful.
I've had at least two endo biopsies that I can remember and I also hit the ceiling in pain so I am with you right there on that!! I'm having residual anxiety just remembering it!!
Best of luck. Also ask your doc if you can premedicate with advil or something to cover you.

Colposcopy
I had no pain associated with my colposcopy and went to work right after.
Good luck!

Colposcopy
from what I know its not painful, they are looking at your cervix with a microscopy, first they'll swab the area with a cleanser. If they see something they will take a biopsy.
I never had one, but we do them all the time in our office
good luck.

Re: Colposcopy
Thank you all so much! Guess I'm just anxious because of the bad experience I had with the endo biopsy.

Re: Colposcopy
Like the PPs have said, the actual procedure is them looking. Though if they see something abnormal, they will take a biopsy. I've had a few of them and only once did it hurt. And by hurt, it was a pinch and done. It depends on the dr. After that I saw a different dr and felt nothing. Paps also hurt me, so I know what you're saying.
