Does professional certification transfer like permanant does?

Does professional certification transfer like permanant does?
A friend of mine has her permanent elementary certification (she got it the year before they changed everything, lucky her!). She went back for math certification and it was permanent as soon as she got it because of her elementary cert being permanent.
Does the same thing happen for initial to professional? I have professional cert. in childhood and early childhood and I'm getting my library cert. Do I start back at initial or does it automatically become professional?

Really? This is great news, I too have perm cert. I just finished another cert area now I am sending my credits to Albany. I am so excited. IF I work under my new cert, then that means I do not have to do all professional development hours?

If you have a professional and you get additional certs they become professional too. You apply for them as a professional. Not sure about permanent.

This. It becomes professional. Permanent certs are no longer offered by the State. http://www.highered.nysed.gov/tcert/certificate/perm.html
The difference is with professional certs you need to keep track of 175 hours of PD every 5 years. As long as you record your Sup't Conference Days and faculty meetings, you should be fine...

I spoke with Albany, since you have a professional certification and you go for your library studies you will then get another professional certification but your friend who had a permanent certification and went for another new certification is not permanent it's professional
