Who has been to the new one in Farmingdale? DH has the day off on Monday so thinking of asking him to stay home with the twins while the boys are in school so I can go and leisurely check out what this place is all about. Any suggestions on good items to try? My in laws are in CT a lot to visit friends and they always go to the one in Newington while they are up there, they rave about it. But I have never tried anything they have bought. TIA

Re: Stew Leonards
In addition to the above, DH and I like the refrigerated soups and chili. Milk is a good buy. Some things I have tried and don't like are SL yogurt and ice cream in tubs.
Some stuff can be pricey, but the sale items are real good.

Meat, fresh ice cream, guacamole, chocolate milk, soups esp the broccoli cheddar, rolls (expensive).
I usually shop the sales there for meat, I love their lamb.

Re: Stew Leonards
I like their dairy and meat the best. I've been a bunch of times and always buy their butter, milk, eggs, thick cut bacon, kielbasa, zoodles, breakfast sausage, and chicken sausage.
I have to stay away from their bakery section. I try not to buy too much when I walk through because I'll eat it all. I love their pretzel rolls though. I always get those if they have them.

I live right there and have been a few times. The crowds aren't bad but I've never really tried during weekend peak times.
Their Bakery is great. Milk prices are great. Meat - check cause sales are great but if not on sale not a great deal. Produce is good.
Overall there isn't a huge selection of anything. I use it for certain items but still go to Stop n Shop for my regular shopping.

Re: Stew Leonards
I highly recommend their beef. I bought their porterhouse steaks last week which were on sale - best steaks I've ever made at home. And we love their caramel popcorn!

I'm dying to go. How crazy is it on weekends? I'm thinking I may go around dinnertime so maybe it won't be so bad?

Absolutely awesome. Go and take your kids, they will love all the displays and buttons to press, etc. Apple cider donuts, bagels, soda bread, so many things are awesome.

I was there this past Sunday around dinner time and it was fairly packed. I typically buy organic produce and there is such a small selection of organic items. When I spoke with a store associate he said that their produce mostly comes from local farms that use pesticides etc. I didn't find there to be any amazing buys, but organic eggs were on sale and organic milk was reasonable. I'm not a huge fan of pre- made foods, but from what I hear, that is more their focus. A lot of the ready made food looked fresh and people were chatting about how good thing this or that was. Secondly....I went shopping with my kids....that doubled our time there because my daughter had to push every freakin button, but we had to wait until the figures were done singing from the group of unattended young kids that were just running in circles hitting all the buttons. Lastly, after I got home I had read some review that you get free coffee or ice cream if you spend over 100 bucks (which I did) and nobody even mentioned that when we checked out. With my kids I was distracted, but I don't remember seeing signs that referred to such...I mean free ice cream....around dinner time?? Yum! Haha.
