Did anyone watch Catfish from last night (with the medium)?
What a weird episode. I'm still not sure what I think overall. I kept expecting it to come out that it was really the aunt or another family member. What a sad story all around though! Do you think it was real?

I agree - it was so weird ! Me and my husband were sure it was fake and then max and Nev start saying how they believe the medium and she's so real etc. I still feel something is up ! I dint get it - seemed so fake to me or set up ?

I had a weird feeling about it, not to mention the fact that I'm very skeptical of mediums. I thought I noticed a very weird change in the girl Kayla after she met the medium. . . It was like her personality did a 180 and she all the sudden got very demanding and wanted to hear the family secrets. The change in her made it seem like she might have been acting the whole time. I also found the medium's affect to be very strange.
I was very surprised when Nev and Max started saying they believed her. I always thought Nev seemed pretty sincere, so I would hope they're not making up fake stories to get ratings, although I wouldn't put it past any show.

Did anyone watch Catfish from last night (with the medium)?
It was the strangest episode. I was waiting for the whole time for the father to come out saying he faked his own death or the grandma to say she was just doing it to make Kayla feel better.
I really don't know what to make of it.

Freakiest episode ever!! I literally got chills at certain points. The only way it was fake is if they were all in on it (& trying to fool Nev & Max, cuz I don't think they would be part of a fake story, would totally discredit the point of the show). But obviously it was a real story (what the dad did & how he died) so they would all have to be really insane to be lying!

Re: Did anyone watch Catfish from last night (with the medium)?
It was a bizarre episode. Courtney seemed like a creepy weirdo. Those eyebrows. The crazy eyes. The way she approached them slowly, the way she was talking and the sound of her voice. The creepy hug with the kool-aid cult smile. Her saying "you've got your daddy's eyes" as the first thing she said to her in person was a bit much and so contrived. The next day when she said the deceased was present, they didn't look particularly shocked or had any realistic emotion. When Kayla talked to her father, again, not a realistic emotion. At the park the day before she was a wreck, but now in the supposed presence of her dead father she's all chill like "this is cool, hey dad". Eric/Erica saying she knows the whole story and he's been to her house too. The thing that made this seem made up is the fact that she avoided meeting up. On other episodes, when people are lying about their pics and profiles it's logical why they would avoid meeting. There is no love interest here, and if she is who she says she is, why not throw the poor girl a bone and turn on the video cam and chat? No reason not to. That was the only hook for the show. And her weird responses on the phone to Nev.
Nevermind the fact that Kayla was 18 when the episode was taped and had already been in contact with Courtney for a few years. So, effectively, Courtney, a grown woman, was contacting a strange teenager she never met with a family history of mental illness to give her messages from beyond the grave?! How is that appropriate? She was a young, impressionable girl who happened to be tragically orphaned. Why didn't her aunt or grandmother step in and get a hold of this Courtney person and stop her from contactng a minor? Where was the grandmother? Why was she given custody of Kayla and her sister when she lost custody of her own son to the foster care system? And no mention of Kayla's older sister. Was she not interested in meeting Courtney and finding out the truth? It may have been more appropriate to contact her as she would have possibly already have been 18+ at the time. Why Kayla?

The whole thing seemed fishy to me. I don't buy it, I think she was getting info from a family member

I watched it last night and loved it. I think the medium was telling the truth. My heart went out to Kayla. What a hard life she had.
