Mothers Day Menu... Are you cooking?
Most of my Siblings are out of the area, and DH always works Mothers day... so its usually just Mom and I and we go to a movie.
This year my Brother and his family will be around so we thought to cook vs going out. So I'm starting to check out a menu for brunch or lunch (or a combo of both).
Just looking for ideas... What are you doing for mothers day? If you're cooking - what's your menu?
If you're not (lucky you!), what are your favorite dishes for special occasions?

Re: Mothers Day Menu... Are you cooking?
We usually go to my mom's. My birthday usually falls on Mother's day or the day after so we celebrate that too.
DH BBQ's at her house. We make burgers/hot dogs/chicken burgers/pasta salad etc It's easy clean up and my mom doesn't have to spend all day in the kitchen cooking. She has in the past made stuffed shells with meatballs and sauce but the BBQ is easiest.
Dessert is usually a strawberry shortcake for me. (it's also my mom's favorite cake so that's a plus!)

Mothers Day Menu... Are you cooking?
My family decided to cater food from Ivarone's this year- we went out last year and it was a disaster. The year before Dh and I hosted- we did grilled steaks, sweet potato fries, grilled veggies and salad.

Re: Mothers Day Menu... Are you cooking?
Yes and no.
I have no DH, no mom, sister lives OOS so it's just me and DDs!
We may go out to lunch.
Otherwise it's a regular Sunday where I do meal prep for the week which means cooking - part of being a mom ??

Re: Mothers Day Menu... Are you cooking?
Nope and am so freaking happy! My mom recently had a long and involved hospitalization and still tires easily. So my sister and I are catering in to her house. No cooking, no cleaning and she can rest in her own home.
Eta: If we were cooking it was you g to be brunch. Various quiches, hashbrown casserole, bacon, sausage and fruit and veggie platters

We usually do a bagel brunch. This year it's a deli lunch. Catered in with a few dishes made.

Re: Mothers Day Menu... Are you cooking?
Thanks all.. We are definitely cooking (well, I'm cooking! lol)
The menu we've decided on is:
Croque Madam Casserole Crustless Spinach & Mushroom quiche Roasted Potatoes (my SIL favorite) a Salad of some sort Bacon and/or Corn Beef hash mini bagels with lox
And Fruit Salad & Coffee Cake
More than plenty for 8 people..(probably too much!) I think.
