Best PreSchool with the Most Success

Hi,

We are trying to decide on a full day program for my 3 yr old spectrum (non-verbal) child. He's been receiving at home ABA for the past 5 months alone with speech and has made great progress. We have toured Barbara C Wilson (Woodbury) and Variety Learning this week- both were good. I've read about them both but cannot decide and I need to inform them and our district about our decision. Anyone has any advice or success stories with either school? Also, Little Village is full- I have ABA via LV but they have no programs available.

Thanks all in advance

Our developmental pediatrician likes Barbara c. Wilson. My son was already at brookville Marcus avenue, which we love, so I decided not to move him, but that was her first choice for us.

My child attends Barbara Wilson and has been successful there. But a friend's child attended Variety and was successful there as well. I really think you can't go wrong with either school - sometimes it will come down to the teachers they get, the make up of the class, etc. all of the unknowns - so stressful I know!

We were recommended by someone to go to Little Village and BCW as a back up choice. I did think the tour of BCW was very informative and I was able to observe each classroom for a minute or so (a 6:1:2, 8:1:2, 10:1:2 and a 12:1:2). I also liked the fact that there were different size classes, as all of Variety's classes are 8:1:2.

On the flip side, Variety has a lot of support programs. My child attended their social skills program on the weekend (which I definitely recommend no matter which school you choose) taught by Variety teachers, speech therapists etc and one teacher there was amazing.

Good luck! Feel free to PM me with any questions.

My DS goes to Barbara Wilson school. We have been happy there and he has flourished over the last 2 years. He is high functioning ASD and was in a 10:1:2 both years and did great.

It has met ours needs and feel he is ready for kindergarten (he is going into integrated!) but they do not have a sensory gym if that is something your child will need. They also aren't very friendly to working parents (all parent training is during the day so we can never go). Feel free to message with any questions.
