Registry Stalking! Question
My baby shower is on Sunday, and I can't stop looking at my registry!!
Looks like we will have to purchase some of the bigger ticket items, though. My question is: Should I buy ALL of the following items, or are there cheaper alternatives that you have and can recommend?
-The stroller- Baby Jogger City Premier ($399, but on sale for $319 at BRU pretty often). We are kind of stuck on this stroller, and unless there is a cheaper one with all of the features this one offers (reversible seat, full recline like a bassinet, etc.), we will probably spend the money on this.
- Halo Bassinest ($199). I like that it sits up right next to the bed, so that I won't have to get out of bed to do the night feedings. Just wondering if I should spend all that money for something I will only use for 1-3 months..
- Mamaroo ($239). What I really liked about this swing was that it is small. I really don't want a huge swing that is going to take up alot of space. I also liked that it simulates a car driving, kangaroo, tree swing, etc... Any suggestions for a cheaper swing option that is on the smaller side?
- Summer Infant Wide View Digital Baby Monitor ($150).. I have a feeling we won't really find much else that has good reviews and is cheaper than this.
One of two of these items may get purchased before the shower this weekend. But in the event they do not, I just kind of want to prioritize and get what I really need

Re: Registry Stalking! Question
The stroller and monitor are both a must IMO.
The HALO bassinet - while I've heard great things, I personally found a bassinet was a waste of money for me. DS slept in it for less than a week before I transferred him to his crib. I would try finding the bassinet second hand (either on a FB group or craigslist) before spending $200 on a new one.
The Mamaroo gets a lot of mixed reviews. Its pretty pricey for what it is. I think this is another thing that you could try getting second hand or maybe look at a cheaper alternative. We're registering for the Fisher Price Snuggapuppy swing. It has amazing reviews and seems a bit more consistent than the Mamaroo. Its also over $100 cheaper.

Re: Registry Stalking! Question
I agree, I don't think it's worth it to spend on a bassinet, and definitely not full price on the Mamaroo. Some babies love the Roo and some HATE it. If you can find them secondhand it may be worth the money.
The monitor and stroller for SURE.

Registry Stalking! Question
I should also add that I have the graco snap and go for the first 6 months or so, but I think i will still get the stroller now because the baby will be here in the summer and it might be nice to use the regular stroller for walks around the neighborhood

Registry Stalking! Question
My DS preferred a swing to the mamaroo. It's Aldi very small and they outgrow it quickly. At least my son did.
I think a monitor depends on your house. I rarely used mine. Is look into buying one off Craigslist to save money or getting a non video monitor. I didn't find the video necessary.
I think the Halo is expensive for what it is and you won't get much use outhe of it. My DS only liked sleeping in the rock n play for the first few months.
I'm all for spending on a stroller you love. Maybe you can use a 20% off. BRU sends them out ocassionally.

Re: Registry Stalking! Question
DD is only 3 weeks old but I kinda wish we had the halo bassinet right next to the bed. Ours is at the foot of the bed and it wasn't much cheaper- $140 I think? Especially during those first two weeks when it hurt to get up out of bed, I think the halo would've been great. And DD loves her momaroo so I think it's worth the money. We haven't utilized our monitor yet but that's something that you'll use for a good while. Maybe if hold off on buying it but I wouldn't hesitate to spend the money.

I agree. Especially about the mamaroo. I paid $125 for a used one and wish I had bought a traditional swing. Also wouldn't spend $200 on a bassinet. My $60 Rock n play goes right next to the bed.

Registry Stalking! Question
thanks guys! We will definitely get the stroller and the monitor. My neighbor has the arm's reach cosleeper and offered it to me, so I'm thinking I will use that and go without the halo bassinest. Still undecided about the mamaroo!

Re: Registry Stalking! Question
I think you could do without the Mama roo. There are cheaper swings.
If you are getting a bassinet you probably don't need the monitor right now. unless the baby is going to nap farther away from where your living area is.
They are changing the style of the city select thats why its on sale so you may want to get it while its cheap. and make sure you get all the attachments you will eventually need for it in case the new version doesn't fit with it. ( extra seat , infant seat conversion piece) you probably don't need the bassinet part of this though. My sister got it and never used it bc when the baby is little they are always in the infant seat that snaps on to it.
You also never know how much you are going to get in money and gift cards. We got over 1,500 in gift cards so you may be able to buy everything else you need after your shower.

Same for me.
As for the mamaroo or another swing, its so dependent on the baby. My first hates any sort of swing and my second only liked it after a few months. You just never know what they will like.
I have an older Fisher price swing that I held onto and will try for #3.

Wow that is amazing that you got all of those gift cards. I am sure we will get some, but I definitely am not expecting too much. We are lucky to have gotten everything else purchased off of of registry, so it's nice that I only have to worry about the stroller and monitor at the very least
