What's the deal with sugars from fruits and veggies?
I'm trying to really lessen the amount of sugar that I eat during the day. I'm using My Fitness Pal to track what I eat during the day, and I'm almost always over on sugar. I cut out sugary drinks and sugar in my hot beverages, and I don't usually eat sweets during the day-occasionally I'll do a cookie at night or a 1/2 cup of lowfat ice cream/frozen yogurt but not everyday and not if I know I'm over.
When I looked at my diary today I realized a lot is coming from fruits (1/4 c of berries with my plain yogurt, 14 baby carrots, and then an orange or apple most days).
I know that WW doesn't count the natural sugars, but MFP does. I don't think I'm really eating a TON of sugars from the fruits and veggies I eat during the day, but I'm still bothered that I'm almost always over. I don't really want to give up the fruits and veggies I eat during the day, but I feel stuck.
TIA

Fruits have a decent amount of sugars and you should limit yourself to 2 servings a day. Different fruits have different amounts of sugar. Berries for example are low in sugar, while grapes are high in sugar Vegetables have less sugar and you should have about 5 servings. With that said, I tend to have 3 servings of each. I figure it's better than a granola bar or sweets. I also try to pair all fruits and vegetables with a protein (yogurt, cottage cheese, nuts, peanut butter, etc).

All this.
To add, if you are trying to eat lower carb/sugar - I'd keep fruit down and snack on green veggies instead.
When I was doing low carb, I didn't even allow a grape tomato The first 2 weeks and then slowly added them in.
With all that being said.. Sugar from fruit sure Is better than sugar from a piece of candy. So you're still doing something better for your body in general. but if you're looking to lose weight, I'd back off the fruit a bit

I heard that sugar from fruit isn't as bad because you are getting fiber.
That's why juice is worse than fruit, you get the same sugar without the fiber

I think it depends on your health and what your goal is. Diabetics should limit to 2 servings but I don't think that's true for healthy people. Don't eat only fruit all day every day and you will be fine!
