Cant believe I'm posting in THIS forum! (a few questions)

Good Morning all! I just got my BFP yesterday and DH and I beyond words, especially since this month we took the "whatever happens, happens" approach!
I plan to call my dr today, but how long do they usually make you wait before coming in for the first visit? (I am almost at 4 weeks now).
And when did you all tell your immediate family? My sister is getting married in 3 weeks so I feel like I have to tell everyone sooner rather than later because they will know something is up if I'm not having a drink to celebrate.

ahh so excited! Looking forward to getting to know you all over the next 9 months!

Cant believe I'm posting in THIS forum! (a few questions)

First appointment is at 8 weeks so they make sure everything they should be seeing, they do. Sac, fetal pole and most importantly heartbeat

We waited until after 12 weeks to tell anybody. So much can happen in the first trimester.

Also, if your sister is getting married in 3 weeks, I'd wait until after to not steal her thunder. Plus I'd wait until you hear a heartbeat.

I went in at 5 weeks 6 days to confirm the pregnancy then they had me come back the next week for my first official visit.

I told my sister the day of my 1 official visit because we were going out that night and it would have been weird if I didn't have a drink. My parents and brother we told at 10 weeks.

All of this
My dr won't see you before 8 weeks. They said today's pregnancy tests are super accurate so no need to confirm it or anything.
And we waited until at least 12 weeks to tell anyone- even family

I told immediate family at like 4 weeks, because I had a miscarriage once before and ended up telling them then anyways.. So no harm in telling your parents and sister if you'd be leaning on them if something happened.
My dr doesn't normally see you until 8 weeks but will see people with a history of miscarriage at 5 weeks..
congrats :)

I was seeing a RE so I went in right away but normally its 8 weeks.

I told my family right away. They knew what we were goign through so I never felt the need to wait. IMO tell whenever you want but I always feel like family are the ones that you will need the support from so to why not tell them right away.

My first appt was at 7w3d but that was even a little early. We did see and hear the heartbeat at that appt. we told our immediate families then and waited to tell everyone else til after the 12 week appt.

My brother turned 21 when I was about 5 weeks along so j enlisted my sister to help me fake drinking and throw everyone off. She kept my secret until j was ready to tell. You could do that or you could just order a drink like cranberry and Sprite at the bar so it looks like a cocktail but isn't.

Good luck and congrats!!

Congrats. We just told our parents at 13 weeks. After two losses, we wanted to wait until after we got results of the genetic NIPS testing. Most of the time, your first appointment will be at 8 weeks.

I personally would wait given it is your sister's wedding. You can always have cranberry juice and pretend it's alcohol. And hold the champagne glass up to your lips but don't drink it. I've done that. I doubt anyone would notice.

your first official appt/sono will be anywhere from 6--8 weeks. You can, however, ask to come in for blood pregnancy test to confirm. You can go in today or tomorrow probably, and then go back two days later for a 2nd round to make sure the levels are rising appropriately. If they do, then they won't have you come back until your first sono at 6-8 weeks

also, i don't think I would tell anyone prior to my sister's wedding. It's her day

All good advice above. I'd wait as well so as not to detract from the wedding day. You can fake drinking pretty easily--just go to the bar and ask for a sprite in a cocktail glass with a little grenadine. Bartenders typically get it when you do this, and have no problem accommodating. I did exactly this at a friend's wedding when I was 12 weeks along. Worked like a charm! I also held my husband's drink sometimes and no one even realized I wasn't drinking it.
