GHI Breast Pump
Did anyone else hear that starting July 1st GHI will cover breast pumps?

What?? really? Wow that is amazing! I just ordered my pump but did it through my hospital insurance. I guess if they send me a bill, I can re-file through GHI and get it covered :)

A friend of mine who is pregnant spoke with GHI and they said it will kick in July 1st.

Just an update ladies. I called GHI myself yesterday and they are in fact going to start covering breast pumps beginning July 1st! Yay!

I was just on yummy mummy.com and was able to order by selecting EmblemHealth GHI. I got the Spectra S2 without paying. Didn't even ask me for a credit card. Just said $0 balance. I'm due 7/9 so don't really want to wait til 7/1 to order. I'll let you all know how it goes!!!

I started filling out the info online and also saw a $0 balance but didn't go through with it though because I wasn't sure if I would get billed later on. I do own a medela pump in style from my previous kids but it is 6 years old at this point so I would love a new one. Maybe I should just go ahead and do the order.

i ordered on yummy mummy and just got a bill from GHI for $299- I called GHI, and was told I had to coordinate a return of the pump to yummy mummy, and reorder it on July 1 or later and it will be covered. Just sent it back yesterday. DONT order it before July 1, because yummy mummy will file the claim before GHI officially covers it

I'm not sure- call GHI and ask- they were really helpful. Alot of people don't start pumping until a couple of weeks after having the baby, so I would be surprised if they didn't allow it

What do we need to get written on the prescription? Electric breast pump? Which pumps are covered? Which are the best? Why?

That's great to hear. A few weeks ago I ordered a breast pump through our hospital insurance instead (I heard that was a way to get it covered) but if that doesn't work I will def be filing through GHI July 1st.

Did you get the bill when you put it through the hospital insurance or when you put it through GHI??

Hospital- They wrote me a letter in addition to the bill stating that I should try to file the claim through GHI. I called GHI and they said they won't cover it yet, either. To be safe, I would order the pump through Yummy Mummy in the 2nd week of July

Oh man ok that stinks I already ordered through the hospital insurance, I wonder if I can cancel it. That's dumb that YummyMummy even sent it to you they should have just denied it.
