patio - what you love or hate
Does anyone have a certain material patio and regret getting it?
Deciding between wood, pavers and concrete and would love feedback.

We have a HUGE concrete ptio in our yard and I hate it. I love wooden decks. I think they look so much nicer.

We just ripped out our wood deck and went with pavers. The wood is very hard to maintain and we constantly got splinters.
Just be careful with Trex type decks because they can get very hot depending on the color.

I love pavers personally. I like the look of the concrete driveway with a paver border, and having it lead into a full paver patio in the backyard from the driveway

Pavers . Redid our backyard in pavers at our last house. We sold it and moved and are redoing this yard now and using pavers again. I would avoid travertine anywhere since its slippery

we put a wood deck up when we first moved into our house cause the old concrete patio was a mess and we thought we would love a deck. It looked so nice for a year, then looked like crap. I really hated it and if we wanted it to look remotely nice it would have taken alot of work.
2 years ago we put in an inground pool and replaced everything with pavers. SOOOOO much better!

We have Trex, we didn't put it in, previous owners did. I love the look, but it does get very hot.

Pavers are fantastic and you can add a nice outdoor carpet to soften it up. We had a wooden deck and my foot got sliced open and was gushing blood everywhere from a chunk that came up. It's a tough maintenance living by the ocean for us.

Put in pavers at our old house- loved them. Our current house has concrete and I hate it. It's broken and not level- we want to rip it up and put a deck because we want something elevated. My parents have trek and whilst it does get hot, it holds up really well.

We have tumbled travertine and we absolutely love it! It doesn't get hot or super cold, it's soft underfoot, not slippery and won't scrape the kiddies up when they take a tumble.
We had bluestone, brick and concrete in the past. I started out looking into/researching sandstone, but I was afraid of how it scratches easily and tends to show dirt quickly. Then I stumbled upon the travertine. We had it shipped up from a dealer in FL. (We also used it in our master bathroom.)

We have a wood deck. The upkeep is annoying. But it's worth it. I like that we are high up (as opposed to pavers) and between trex and wood - we went wood for the heat factor.

We have travertine and love it. It is cool to the touch even while baking for hours in the sun. One downside is that it does get a bit slippery around the pool but after a few spills kids finally stopped running!
