how did you induce labor?
I'm only 34 weeks, but I have been thinking of how I could start changing some habits in the coming weeks to help bring on labor. I know that the baby will come when she is ready, but some people swear that certain things they did brought on their labor. Did anything work for some of you?

Re: how did you induce labor?
With my DS I did everything under the sun and nothing worked. However, I did start rotating on a yoga ball around 37 weeks and while it didnt induce labor, it did help to move him down into the birth canal further (he was already head down by then), which in turn helped a lot when I was induced.

I would certainly just keep with your normal lifestyle for the next few weeks until you are full term. You still have a while to go. The week of my due date I started walking every night with DH to get things moving but it didn't work, I had to be induced anyway.

Adding you're only 34 weeks. I wouldn't dream of even attempting things to jump start labor until at least 39 weeks, which is considered full term.

Re: how did you induce labor?
I hate to say this but anything that is supposed to help induce labor, if it worked, was purely a coincidence. You can't force a baby to come out by eating eggplant or spicy food or walking. Such old wives tale malarkey.
I am not sure why anyone would want to "bring on" labor early. I wanted to keep DD in as long as possible. I was actually hoping to go late. I was in no way ready for her!

If she could have stayed in until 3 years old, that would have been good!

I swear sometimes I think you're my twin. They handed that baby to me and I was like a deer in headlights for the next 4 years. And yet...here I am doing it all over again

I have no intention of inducing labor at all right now! I said in the OP "in the coming weeks" as in like next month lol

Re: how did you induce labor?
Babies come when they're ready. My first was 10 days early and my second was 15 days early. I can assure you I didn't do anything for either to come early. And in both cases, I wasn't dilated ahead of time.

how did you induce labor?
Things like yoga ball, red raspberry leaf tea, evening primrose oil, walking, sex, etc are not so much to induce labor, but to better prepare your body for it by letting the baby drop more, softening your cervix, helping with effacement, etc.
Personally I do yoga ball, walking, RRL tea (when I can tolerate it) and sex

Agreed. I went a couple days past my due date and I tried everything- walking, sex, spicy foods... Nothing worked. I was induced for low fluid with pitocin.

Re: how did you induce labor?
Ugh! I did everything! I ate tons of pineapple and eggplant and all I had to show for that was a massive amount of heartburn! I did acupuncture to induce labor, foot massages with pressure on the ankles, walked A LOT! I also drank raspberry tea which causes contractions, but the BH kind. She was born a day late.

how did you induce labor?
I did everything! Finally at my 41 week appointment I asked them to do a sweep and I went into labor 12 hours later.

Re: how did you induce labor?
Aside from medical interventions, you can't really induce labor. Once things start to get moving (early labor, slight dilation, effacement), you can help speed it up, but only your little one or your doctor can get it started. But at 34 weeks, just relax, I spent 16 weeks trying to keep my baby in, just enjoy the few weeks you have left.

And even then, these things didn't work for me. I was 2 cm dilated and 100% effaced for two weeks. Nothing worked. I even had my membranes swept and still had to go back the next day to be induced with pitocin.
