French toast bake
1 loaf of white bread, cubed (your choice- could be raisin cinnamon...) 1 8 oz cream cheese, cubed (could be broken up by hand (messy) ) 8-12 eggs depending on size 1 cup whole milk, or half & half (creamier) 1/2 cup maple syrup light hand of salt (brings out flavor) Cinnamon - 1 or 2 dashes Nutmeg - 1 or 2 dashes Vanilla - 1 tbsp Personal touches: Powdered sugar, or cinnamon sugar Grease or spray pan Spread pan with half of bread Layer cream cheese cubes on top of bread Put remaining bread on top Beat eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, milk, little salt, 1/2 cup maple syrup Pour over bread Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Next morning: pre heat oven 350 Sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top Cover and bake approx. 40 -45 minutes or golden brown (after 30 mins. I usually start checking on it--stick a toothpick in the middle to make sure eggs are cooked) If you want, you can sprinkle powdered sugar also.

Re: French toast bake
SINFUL FRENCH TOAST
melt 1 stick of butter and pour into bottom of 9x13 dish add 3/4 c (i use 1/2) brown sugar and 1 tsp of cinnamon
mix butter, sugar, and cinnamon
add 12 pieces of bread by layering
in a seperate bowl mix 5 eggs and 1 cup of milk (I also add a tsp of sugar, tsp of vanilla extract, and sprinkle some cinnamon in it)
pour mixture over bread
bake for 35 min at 350 (this changes depending on your oven though- my gas oven was better with this recipe. In my electric I need to use a disposable tin foil pan or the bottom gets really hard)
*comes out better when you use stale bread and also let it sit in fridge overnight.
