Lynbrook-Malverne School District
Hi. I have read past posts regarding this school district but am wondering if anyone has recently bought in the district and how their experience has been.

Lynbrook-Malverne School District
lynbrook is one school district, and malverne is another. Are you referring to buying a home in Lynbrook that is zoned for Malverne schools?
Malverne and Lynbrook as neighborhoods are both great places to live. However, the Malverne school district is not rated very high. Buying in the Lynbrook school district would be a better choice

Malverne gets a bad rep because it is racially diverse. It pulls students from Lakeview.
My husband and his family are all graduates of Malverne. They did not have half the issues that I had in school and I went to Northport. Norhtport had huge drug issues where malverne did not.

Re: Lynbrook-Malverne School District
We specifically bought in Lynbrook because of the excellent school districts. DD is just 2 months though so no personal experience yet, but I've only heard great things. Lynbrook is a really wonderful area, I love living there!

Yes. Exactly. The house is Lynbrook the school district is Malverne.

Re: Lynbrook-Malverne School District
You will get more for your money in the area of Lynbrook zoned for Malverne schools, precisely because if you look at school rankings, Malverne school district isn't rated as high as Lynbrook (SD 20). Similarly, you can get a little more for your money in the parts of Lynbrook that go to East Rockaway schools.
The areas zoned for Lynbrook schools tend to be pricier.
So you have to weigh out what you want, but remember that while you can get a better deal when buying, if you may sell in the future, you won't built as much equity in an area where schools aren't considered quite as good versus an area where schools are considered highly desirable. School districts really drive home values quite a bit.

I'm Lynbrook w Lynbrook schools, but I know at least 10 families nearby in Malverne schools that are all very happy with the quality of the education, with kids ranging from k to high school. And they all have bigger houses than I do!
