Wood Floors - Transitions

We are opening up our kitchen only by taking half a wall down on one side - will still have other full size wall. I really want wide wood planking for flooring - going to match other flooring throughout living room and dining room. Anyone do this transition? Do I have it be same direction at least? Does it look good? Thoughts?

I've got dark wood in my kitchen and it opens up to the width of a standard doorway to my formal dining room which has a honey sort of colored wood. They are in different directions. It looks great!

Re: Wood Floors - Transitions

I'm confused, you're going to put the wide plank throughout? Or you're asking if it's ok to JUST have the wide plank in the kitchen?

We are taking down the walls for our kitchen reno as well and doing wide plank in the kitchen/dining, living room and hallways -
I'm debating just doing the two bedrooms as well and have the same flooring throughout - ONLY b/c my current hardood is old, gapped everywhere and runs in all different directions

Sorry- I know it was confusing way I wrote it:)- JUST wide plank in kitchen. The rest of floor is the usual narrow planks. Also- if I do JUST kitchen in wide- should it run in same direction? Which I think yes. TIA!

i have wide planks in my kitchen and narrow in my living room dining room...i took the walls down between the rooms so its open now. they don't go in the same direction and i like it. i think its a personal preference.
